I always wondered about this when I go to the games. I have seen quite a few jersey's with names including the likes of: Krupp, Arniel, Heinze, Vaive...etc....Has anyone seen others or is anyone the proud owner of any similar jersey's?

A guy out in the Bills Backers group out here in Boston has a Bob Sweeney jersey.

I own a bunch of old school jerseys. Draper, Franceschetti, Makkela, Burridge, Mike Wilson. I picked most of the game used ones up before Ebay was really popular. I was tempted to sell the collection before Christmas but couldn't do it.

Hey....maybe one of you can come to my house and rob them so the cops, media, and Mike Wilson show up at my house.

Mike Wilson??? I didn't think they even produced any jerseys with his name on them. Did you have it special ordered? :w00t:

I think Vaive is the color man for the Amerks games now that Bednarski is gone. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

the best jerseys i've seen at the arena of late:

a blue number 16 ... not as worn by patty lala, chris taylor (after patty wore it, which was a sin, IMO), or the "real" lemieux, but as worn by ric seiling (we forgive you, ric, for not being mike bossy).

a white number 18 ... not as worn by danny gare, miro, the euro-Cam, presley, halkidis, or paul cyr, but as worn by none other than dave snuggerud.

I've recently been wrestling with the idea of getting an Ed Ronan #5 jersey. For whatever reason, I had an interest in him ever since he scored that overtime goal in the playoffs. I think he only played that year for the Sabres, and not even that many games. I'd rather have an obscure jersey than one that everyone has.

one of my all-time favorite college hockey players was scott thomas (clarkson university). he would always let the opposition win the face-off, watch his teammates chase them back into their end and come flying in from the blueline to hammer whoever had the puck right into the boards behind the net. classic. it always got the crowd riled up and into the games within the first 15 seconds. he also played a tough game throughout, and even ran into fighting issues, which is practically non-existant at that level. sat out a few games because of it. anyway, he left early to suit up for the sabres and i got to see his second game (i think) in my lone visit to memorial auditorium so many years ago. i think he had three fights in the game. wore #21. someday, i'll pick it up. although it'd be tough to put "thomas" on the name-plate instead of hometown hero mike hurlbut (who also wore #21).

along the mike wilson line...check out this guy's blog. top 5 worst jersey numbers for the sabres. his #34 takes the top prize (21 is fifth).

Scott Thomas is actually a buddy of mine from high school! You should have seen the picture taken in the yearbook when he punched a ref during one of our games. Too bad he never got to really take off in the NHL. I remember him score a playoff goal against Boston in the Playoffs around 1991. Man, was I hammered at his wedding!!

It was game used. You'd be surprised that the Sabres used to sell game worn jerseys at the end of the year for anywhere from $50 on up. All the jerseys I purchased were cheaper than if I had to print them up myself. Now with the team being so hot, even Jiri Novotny is selling for $400 on an online auction.

I have a contest that I offered up the first month of the season and the winner gets a game used jersey. It is closed for new entries, but a few on this thread are in it. I'll give a standings update as we get closer to the end of the year or if a few guys get traded away.

I saw a Yuri Kyhmalev jersey (white) this past weekend. Bought the guy a beer I thought it was so great.

Give that man a cigar!... You almost stuck the spelling!

That would be Iouri Khmylev... Number 3, I think??... Correct spelling of this unique Russian tongue-twister of a name... :nana: :nana:

I have a Sabres alumni picture hung in my garage for reference! :D

Khmylev was #13. Hannu Virta was #3 (one of my favorite obscure Sabres). I really believe that he was named after a killer whale.

Took a look around last night. I saw the guy with the Tsyplakov jersey.  I also saw a goathead McKegney jersey(I am pretty sure Mckegney only played in the blue & gold) and there was a guy in the first row next to the Boston bench with a Crozier(home) jersey.
