navybillsfan Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 We are only 2-3 players away from a Cup run We get the Sen's in town and wax them, it will be all that Buffalo needs to get those kids pumped!!!!! This team is the real deal and doing it with our stars injured!!!!!!!!!!!
Don Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Did we just get one? Got this off the hfboard from "mike755": I was listening to the Team 1200 here in Ottawa on the Sens pre-game show tonight , and they had the pre-game round table with rumblings and rumors and Bob Mckenzie was on and reported the following...here's the summary He said that something is gonig down with the Oil following the 2 trades they made today. Biron is very close to being an Oiler. Apperantly Lowe had the 2 deals done earlier in the day but waited till 4/430 to announce the deals since he was hopeing to have A deal for Biron completed with the other 2. - Lowe spent alot of last night and today speaking with Darcy Regier and team managment. Also what may be holding up the deal was in fact that Buffalo was requestion a top 4 D in the deal , which is why Loww went out and got some backup and made the 2 trades today. Even more is that Lowe was discussing things with managment and even got a package together for Marc Denis as a backup plan but they rather not go there seeing as Denis is not a significant backup So the deal would be as follows: To EDM: Biron To BUF : Staios , Moreau/Dvorak , 2nd round pick *if it's Dvorak then it will be a there would be no pick or even Buffalo adding a player That would then leave the Oil with 3 goalies , but would most likely send Conklin to the minors or try and trade him adn go with Biron and Markanen. What this guy told me was Loew wasen't saying too much but said it could be done by end of the weekend and begining of next week , and while it can still fall apart , it's looking good and something is defenitly up! He finished by saying Lowe wants Edmonton to be a legitmate threat and contend with the Flames and Cancuks for the Northwest title and thinks the D and a Goalie will defenitly do that . Anyway , you don't gotta believe me ,I don't really care , I'm just passing on what I heard cause i know it's important news ......nothing is confirmed by any means so yah but this roundtable stuff on every Sens pre-game is very legit and gets alot of attention. This is huge , I'm defenitly going to be following this , something could happen soon! PS A little surprised no Edmonton radio has reproted on this yet , but I'm sure they will pick up on it tommorow ....Mckenzie was breaking the story saying it's not widely known yet although alot of Emonton media has allready hinted towards this! Stay Tuned.......
Rabbit151 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I was wondering, when I heard the Oilers picked up a couple of decent defencemen, what was going on. They paid a lot of cash for Pronger. I don't think Spacek or Tarnstrom are gonna take any time from him, and he logs a LOT of time. My first instinct was that the Oilers made these deals to prepare for another deal involving one of those d-men.
envirojeff Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I don't know? I think if everyone was healthy, they would dominate! I think that all the keys are in place. Just a little more confidence, like what navybillsfan said, and the skies the limit. Jeff
Saber61 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 well i think we do need at least one or 2 more guys to add to this puzzle and to shed one goalie at least.... id move noronen but you wouldn't get a return for him at all... if we need a return biron would be the best to trade.... when everyone is healthy and we get a top 4 d-man well be good to go... cup run... hmmm no... we only beat the leafs last night.... and it took 5 goals to do and was close up until 5 min in the 3rd... we need to be healthy and have a top 4 d-man.
fushetti Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Is Steve Staios and Dvorak/Ethan Moreau worth trading Biron for? It sounds like a depth move to me. Moreau, based on his stats was a monster bust (along the lines of a Chris Gratton) for being a 14th overall pick. Dvorak has been ok in his career. Steve Staios? Didn't he play with the Niagara Scenics (Future Buffalo Jr. Sabres)? Come on... If thats what i'm getting in return, i'm not trading Biron.

Morneu is one of the better players, he would be a perfect fit, has size, always plays hard, skates well, gets in front of the net and is argueably the best penalty killer in the league.
will in london Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I wouldn't take one oiler for anybody on this team exept for one of thier top two players.

Moreau is the type of player you can't have enough of come playoff time. A little more grit up front and an upgrade on the blueline could go a long way come playoff time. Campbell has really helped out offensively, but you don't want him as one of your top 6 blueliners come playoff time when things are going to tighten up and get more physical.
Allan in MD Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 One dominating defenseman and resolving the health issues would likely do it.
