January 27, 1989 At the Aud, starting goalie Daren Puppa breaks his arm in a collision with Montreal's Mike McPhee. The Sabres win the game 4-2 but lose Puppa for the rest of the season. The loss will soon force GM Gerry Meehan to make a trade for another goaltender, Clint Malarchuk, leading to a much more frightening injury at the Aud two months later. January 27, 1991 No one is overly concerned when the Sabres lose to the Calgary Flames, 5-4, at Memorial Auditorium. After all, the fans have been spoiled by an eight-game unbeaten streak at home. Little did they know, the Sabres wouldn't win again at the Aud until March 17, a winless streak of 12 games (0-7-5).
