Rabbit151 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I have been looking for that, with no success. I thought maybe some of you more computer-savvy individuals could find such a thing. In the absence of a Stanley Cup, I like to reflect on all the great years the Sabres have had and be proud of that. I know back in 97, I had a record book that showed the all-time regular season and play-off records of the teams. Regular season, the Sabres were right up there in about 6th. Play-offs, not so much. I'm interested in seeing how all teams have done since the Sabres came into the league. I don't want to see the all-time records of teams who were around before the Sabres, just their records since the Sabres joined the NHL.
Rabbit151 Posted January 25, 2007 Author Report Posted January 25, 2007 Hey what do you know, I found something. This is not exact, but I have the records of all teams in the regular season since the Sabres joined the league. A few teams have not got this years record included (only about 2 or 3), while the rest have up to about game 37 included. Since some teams had more ties than others, you'll notice a difference in total games teams (who've been in the league since at least 1970) have played because I am only listing wins and losses. No ties or over-time losses are shown here. This is approximate, based on winning %'s, starting at the bottom: ( Edit: Today I have added real winning %'s ) 30. Thrashers......166-259..............39% 29. Lightning..... ..388-537.............42% 28. Blue Jackets....141-218.............39% 27. Panthers.........359-406.............47% 26. Sharks.............426-531.............45% 25. Canucks..........1103-1326.........45% 24. Penguins.........1221-1373.........47% 23. Capitals...........1043-1105.........49% 22. It'll be a while before we move up on the Flyers, Habs or Bruins, but a couple of losing seasons for the Avs and Stars coupled with some years like the Sabres are having this year, and we could catch them. Anyone want to find the play-off records of all teams since the Sabres came into the league? I'm not interested in adding all the cups the Leafs won in the 6 team league. Just the stats from 1970 to present.

I just kind of roughed it out in my head, but I think this ranking is pretty close. Anyways, not bad for the Sabres, eh? The Oilers have a few cups to go with those 999 regular season wins, eh?
rickshaw Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I'd take Tampa's 29th spot any day of the week if it meant the Sabres had a Cup already.
shrader Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 The ties could really throw that off though. They count towards a winning percentage too (as .5).
