LabattBlue Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 In 05-06 the Sabres scored 101 PP goals in 82 games or 1.23 PP goals per game. In 06-07(so far) they have scored 42 PP goals in 49 games or 0.85 PP goals per game. To put it in perspective, they would have to average almost 2 PP goals per game the rest of the way to match last years total of 101 PP goals. I know Connolly has not been there, but bringing in Spacek should have helped offset the loss of Connolly. The Sabres have to find a way to make this PP work by playoff time. Without good ST play in the playoffs, it will be very difficult to make a long run.
Stoner Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 The Sabres allowed only two shorthanded goals through the first 33 games, after allowing 17 last season. With that factored in, the power play was only marginallly worse than a year ago. But in the last 16 games, they've given up six shorthanded goals. The PP is really becoming a drag. P.S. The Sabres have only four shorthanded goals all season.
