Doohicksie Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I've been diggin' the MSG coverage- great people all around. I like Mike Robataille just fine, but.... What's going on with him lately? Is he ready to burst an anurism, or what? I mean, he seems seriously pissed a LOT of the time lately. :o
Orange Seats Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 he needs to fight rob ray on air to blow off some steam.

He must be impossible to work with. Can't see why the keep him
deluca67 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I really don't like that guy. He must be impossible to work with. Can't see why the keep him Robi is like Don Cherry without the hatred for those different than he his. ;)
Doohicksie Posted January 20, 2007 Author Report Posted January 20, 2007 Don Cherry is spirited but in control. Robataille, well, let's just say I'm waiting for him to just melt down on the air some night. This season.
Crestwood Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Robitaille is still pi$$ed for being passed up in favor of RJ when Darling had to leave in '91. He's decent sometimes, but his similes and ridiculous overacting often get in the way of what he's saying.
X. Benedict Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 That is the fun of watching Roby, controlled rage on the verge of exploding at nobody in particular. I don't even think he knows why.
Goodfella25 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Roby is the type of guy that comes into work with an automatic weapon and just goes postal on everyone...somebody needs to let him know being down by a goal isn't the end of the world
ExiledInIllinois Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 That is the fun of watching Roby, controlled rage on the verge of exploding at nobody in particular. I don't even think he knows why. Exactly X! Not to hijack the thread... But... The "Robyisms" through the years are great... "He's on the roof looking for his jock." "Buggy whipped" And some many more classics!

ExiledInIllinois Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Then there is: "Katy bar the door!" I never really found the true source of that quote... Even on the internet... But I like it and use it often... Thanx, Mike... <_< <_<
Seannie34 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 He said Pominville had "the width of a ham sandwich" of net to shoot at a couple weeks ago when he scored a bad angle goal. I thought that one was classic.
inkman Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Lest we not forget his, "they are like pit bulls eating their lunch out of a brillo pad", in reference to Gaustad's and Drury's play that night.
Claude_Verret Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Between the second and third periods last night after they showed Lindy mic'd up, Roby pulled one out that I last heard him use probably 15 years ago. He said "Lindy's been hotter than a dog's breath at these guys lately."
cdexchange Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Roby is awesome :) He and Howard Simon always get into it on WGR also, very entertaining stuff
Crestwood Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Against the Bruins, he was talking about something that was "tighter than a mouse's ear."
El Chucko Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 "Now you're cookin' with gas" was a good one. My favorite, though, was something I can't quite remember exactly... something like "the next time I hear that guy I wanna throw acid in his face." Anyone remember what I'm talking about? Talk about bottled up rage!
Corp000085 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 The best part about that picture is the cigarette burn on his jersey.
holly Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 wing-span of an albatross (tallinder) wounded puma (pominville) face like the map of ireland (miller) barnicles on a gravy boat (???) i love these
Rabbit151 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I remember a few years back, last game of the year, I think, against the Capitals. This would have been right around the time the Sabres had Nolan as coach. The Capitals and Sabres had a bit of a rivalry, the Caps eliminated the Sabres, perhaps on a Bondra OT goal in Buffalo? Anyways, there were some hard feelings between the two teams, and the game was in Washington and this black kid got in a fight with someone. What was his name? He was french, and played D. Roby was very excited about the fact that he punched the Capital player so hard that he was bleeding from his ear. He showed the fight in his hi-lite package after the game and he was pumped about the beat-down. I laughed out loud (which I rarely do). Jean-Luc Grand Pierre? Does that sound right?

This sounds a lot like a fight Grand-Pierre had with Denis Pederson of the New Jersey Devils, not a Washington Capitals player... one of the most one-sided fights I've ever seen with Pederson bleeding out of the ear by the end of it. Roby greatly appreciated it and RJ was going sort of bananas during the whole thing too ("OHHHH! BREAK IT UP! THEY GOTTA GET IN THERE! HE'S EATIN' HIM ALIVE!")
evil_otto Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Jean-Luc Grand Pierre didn't get in that many fights, but when he did, he usually gave quite the beatdown.
chileanseabass Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 a classic roby moment i'll never forget was when i was 8 or so and watching the game on tv. they were playing calgary at the aud and roby did the intermission interviews. one intermission was a sabres guy and the other was from the other team. that day's guest from calgary was goon tim hunter. they do the interview and hunter leaves, then they go back to roby and he goes "man does that guy really smell!" classic roby.
