LabattBlue Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 47 games down...35 to go. I don't see the Sabres catching Ottawa, so 1st, 2nd or 3rd are out of the question. Barring a total collapse, they won't miss the playoffs(therefore no choice for 9th or lower). I am confident that 4th or 5th is attainable. The Devils playing well scares me a lot, but I'm not as concerned about the Rangers, Lightning, Thrashers or Leafs finishing ahead of the Sabres. Current standings as of 1/22(Games played followed by points) 1. * Ottawa 46 68 2. * Carolina 47 68 3. * Philadelphia 48 66 4. Buffalo 47 61 5. NY Rangers 48 61 6. New Jersey 48 55 7. Tampa Bay 48 53 8. Atlanta 49 52 9. Toronto 47 51 10. Montreal 45 48 11. Boston 47 44 12. NY Islanders 47 43 13. Florida 49 43 14. Washington 46 39 15. Pittsburgh 48 31
Saber61 Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 i think we can achieve 4th... if were able to turn around our luck against ottawa and finish strong when everyone returns from injuries we can take 4th... its definatly do-able were only 2 points behind the rangers as of last night.
phSabres84 Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 For now we have to worry about the Rangers on Tuesday night and a three game slide...
hopeleslyobvious Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 I have a good feeling about that game, and not only because I will be there! We seem to have matched up well against the Rangers this year. We were a groin tweak away from being 2-0-0 against them. Another thing that makes me feel good about the game is that Lundqvist has just played 3 games in 4 nights. If he starts tomorrow, that's 4 games in 6 nights. Looks like it might be Weekes' turn in the rotation. Plus Drury's comments after the Calgary game, and the possible return of Dumont should give the team some lift.
inkman Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 I guess I am the eternal pessimist. I voted 7th.
