inkman Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Patrick Stefan...doh! I know it's a few days old but I can't stop watching it.
kingcongkorab Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I first saw (and heard ) of that play during the Sabres game last night. How could he have missed that empty net? Then to fall down and cough up the puck and have it go the other way for a goal, unbeliveable!
shrader Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Worst play ever? Yeah, that puck jumping off the ice is all his fault.
rickshaw Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 He's obviously not the worst player ever, but he did make a major screwup there. He could have slotted that one much earlier and got too cute. He paid for it and so did many other Western teams with that extra point Edmonton earned.
Bmwolf21 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Wow. Double wow. So much stupidity in one TV clip... * how Stefan doesn't bury that shot a stride or two earlier is beyond me (no need to skate it completely into the net, Patrick); * he falls down trying to regain control of the puck? * how did the Stars let Hemsky walk in unmolested on goal and score; * and bonus kudos to the announcer, who goes all "drama queen" in reaction.
shrader Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Just to be safe here, that link could be considered not safe for work, so be careful with that one. Anyway, "worst play ever"? "Patrick Stefan, you should be ashamed of yourself."? Give it a rest. It's a case of some real bad luck, nothing more. He's not trying to hot dog it or show off. Players bring the puck that close to an empty net all the time. I guess they're all idiots for doing it.
Stoner Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 shrader, there was no reason to go backhand. I guess that's the hockey equivalent of showing off. Crap like that is why I hate the NFL. Every time a player is running for a touchdown and holds the ball out, I pray he fumbles it.
inkman Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 Every time a player is running for a touchdown and holds the ball out, I pray he fumbles it. ...or some little high motor guy wearing # 82 catches him from behind. ;)

He was going to tap it into the net with the backhand. I've seen it a hundred times. Don Beebe should magically appear on the field every time a player holds the ball out like that.
Bmwolf21 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Beebe magically appearing to chase down showboaters would be an AWESOME addition to the Madden video game franchise...
MBD Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 There is something to be said for handling the puck TOO much.
Two or less Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Most embarressing play definetly, but what a great last few seconds. Probably even craziest then the finish of the Cowboys/Seattle game.
Kristian Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 While I don't agree he's the worst hockey player ever, I do think he's making a serious bid for the "Alexander Daigle Award" of the new century. For someone gone #1 in the draft, these are not pretty numbers. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&pa...layerId=8467055
inkman Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 What? Averaging less than 10 goals and 20 assists sounds great to me.

Amen. Bad luck, nothing else.
shrader Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Amen. Bad luck, nothing else. Another good question is if he takes a shot from the blue line and misses wide, does Ferraro still crucify him like he did? What's the difference?

What's the difference? In defense of the announcer, i'm sure he didn't see the puck jump his blade after hitting that extra ice...
