Taro T Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 The Sabres currently have 61 points. Discounting the fact that there are head to head matchups, the 9th-most points anyone in the East could end up with is Atlanta's theoretical 122. So any combination of 61 points obtained by the Sabres or lost by the Thrashers will clinch Buffalo's 1st playoff berth since 2001. The Sabres are "halfway" to the playoffs.
JujuFish Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 More trivia, although not quite as worthless... Buffalo is first in home penalty kill at 91%, but only 9th in killing penalties on the road, at 81.4%, and it was worse than that before last night's game.
gregkash Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 more trivia that means about as much to me.. i ate a sandwhich for lunch. :D

That would also assume no other team tanks and drops out of contention. Then we would be beyond the halfway point as the same calculations would need to be done on the 10th or even 11th seed.... ;)
