Let's not overreact ... it was the same way against Florida last year. They have lost fewer games than anyone in the league, even after tonight ... to say there have been too many nights like this is setting the bar a bit high.

But to be fair, there wasn't much chance of us seeing Florida in the playoffs last year. Struggling against a legitimate Eastern Conference contender should scare the hell out of us.

Man you guys are REALLY overreacting to this game. It's a wonder you are still alive given that they lost 10-4 to this team last season ... if this is your reaction to a bad period I'm surprised you didn't leap off the Peace Bridge after that game.

i agree... Heatleys hat trick is one of the worst I have ever seen. They score on 3 lucky goals and we are up against a hot goaltender. They beat us last year and it had no indication of what happens in the post season. That said our PP looks horrible and it needs to be fixed, not just against Ottawa but in general.

To be fair, they lost 10-4 and 6-1 to Ottawa early last season and beat them in 5 ... Granted, it's not October, but it's not April either ... and Ottawa is closer to missing the playoffs than they are to first place. They played a GREAT first period ... the played a crap 20 minutes, the opponent hit 2 pucks into the net out of the air and bounced another in off of Teppo, and now the season is in jeopardy? Really? I'm pissed too, but not THAT kind of pissed.

hope tallinder comes back in the 3rd... They need a quick goal to get htemselves a chance. if not, talk about an absolute confidence shattering game. PP sucks, PK sucks, nothing going 5-on-5. Bad things man, bad things...

At this point in the season last year, it was the same way against Ottawa. They didn't figure the Sens out till April. Hopefully something similar happens.

To me, the difference is Emery. The game should have been in hand in the first.

Ottawa has outhit us. It adds up over the course of a game. Max was afraid of his shadow coming out of his own zone late in the second and turned around.

For those who say the power play has been coming around, remember to deduct all the shorthanded goals.

Finally, is Tallinder made of sugar or something? Man. That's the real story. The thought of losing him again. And Emery's first period is going echo for a while, you would think.

What an awful night.

Ottawa has goaltending now. Big difference.

And have you forgotten that three of the Sabres' four wins in the playoffs against the Sens came in overtime.

Anyone who poo-poos the Senators is whistling past the old graveyard. Speaking of that, did RJ say the Sabres power play was "poo poo"? haha

Don't make me bust out the League's softest team thread again.

guys, when i got back in from walking the dog to see we got lit up for 4 second-period goals, I was pretty pissed and feeling the same way...

yeah, sucks to lose to ottawa again, but this is just the regular season. we beat carolina 4 straight this season and do you think they really give a sh!t if they played us in the playoffs? No.

we just came off a streak where we beat a hot road team (caps), 2nd best team in the conference (thrash), and the defending Cup champs, so i would suggest catch up on some porn tonight, or get an early night sleep, b/c it could be worse for this team..we'll be fine.

So overtime wins count less? And it's the same goalie as last year. I agree that was the difference in the series, but he's streaky as hell.

I'm not saying they are not a threat, of course they are. I'm just saying you guys are awful quick to ignore 3 months of hockey and jump all over 20 horrible minutes ... again, where the opponent scored all of one clean goal. The Tallinder injury DOES worry me, I'm not HAPPY ... but man, don't get an ulcer.

The thing that makes this ass-kicking sting even more is that they are doing it to us while they are missing Spezza, Fisher and Vermette.

BTW, Heatley vs. Buffalo this year - 5G: 5 G, 7 A, 12 Pts; +2. Can someone get a body on him PLEASE?

And I think you're being awful quick to dismiss the team's struggles against Ottawa this year. One game, two games - that's an aberration. Maybe it's more of the Sens' regular season domination, but right now, once again, they have our number.

And really, I couldn't care less that we beat them or this goalie last year - because that was last year. Maybe we'll snap out of it, like we did last year, but until we see it, I am going to be hoping that someone helps us out and knocks Ottawa off before we face them in the playoffs.

Maybe we are all being paranoid about this, but I for would feel a lot better if we kicked up the effort and hitting a little and start giving the Sens something to get nervous about.

Ugh...5-1...might be time to let Marty finish things up...

i take back everything i just said a few posts ago - chris neil almost scored a highlight reel goal by dusting spacek and miller. i could swear a bag of cement would give that guy a run for his money in an intelligence test.....that said, and it pains me to say it, but props to neil for changing his game the way he has.....

step away from the cliff...we play a team 8 times. and like i said, we just came off a tough four game stretch..

My biggest concern is Tallinder, I'd hate to see him gone for any period of time...again.

I would not get too overly concerned about the loss in particular, as mentioned numerous times, three months of good hockey shouldn't be overridden by a few bad games, even if it is against Ottawa.

What is concerning is how when teams hit the Sabres, it seems to throw them off their game.

Nice Tallinder hurt now ... THAT is something to worry about. Looks like right ankle or knee ... not good.

I'm betting broken fibula. That sucks. Slew foot by Heatley. Why doesn't someone cross-check him in the face to make him pay.

I'm starting to agree that our team is a bunch of pansies. Will someone please hit someone? Anyone?

I don't know how many times (not just tonight) I've watched other teams' players taking second and third swipes at Miller after a whistle with no response from any Sabre.

And if Tallinder's out for a while again, I smell a mediocre couple of weeks.

Hasn't there been a couple threads over the last few days about what Mair & Peters bring to the team? Could either of them be bothered to hit someone, ANYONE in a black jersey?

Hell, I'd settle for watching one of them knock down the girls who scrape the ice during TV timeouts...
