Eleven Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 It's been fourteen years since a Sabre had a 50-goal season, and it may not happen this year, either. So who do we think is the next 50 goal scorer? Drury? Vanek? Someone not yet with the team? Someone not yet born? My money is on Vanek in 2007-08.
inkman Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Vanek, this season. He always (you know because I've seen him play for decades now) starts slow. He's going to get 40 so why not be bold and predict 50.
X. Benedict Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Vanek, this season. He always (you know because I've seen him play for decades now) starts slow. He's going to get 40 so why not be bold and predict 50. I think Vanek would stand the best chance because of his hands around the net.
LabattBlue Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 The problem is that no Sabre gets the ice time that some of the star players in the league get. Vanek has the most shots of any Buffalo player and he is 36th in the NHL in that category. That being said, I don't think any Sabre hists the mark this year. I think Vanek or Pominville would be at the top of my list for 07-08 with an outside chance of Max or Drury(if he is re-signed ;) .
mphs mike Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Vanek scores 50 more than once for the Swordsmen before he is eligible to be a UFA!
Two or less Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I think Vanek will score 50 goals this season. He started off slow last year, and in Rochester during the lockout and finished strong. I think when he realizes and smells the playoffs, he will turn it up to another notch and that will help him finish off with 51 or 52 goals for the year. But i'm more concerned about what he will do in the post-season though.
Bmwolf21 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 If he contributes more than last playoffs' 2G, 0A, -1 in 10 GP, we'll be in real good shape.
evil_otto Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Vanek... He'll do it this season and come up big in the playoffs too.
JujuFish Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 Not to sound like a broken record, but I have to go with Vanek as well. Briere has great scoring ability, but the majority of his points will come from assists.
