I reffed a Midget game at 2:30 yesterday at Verizon Center. Lots of fun, except for the $17.00 parking fee. As I was leaving, I saw this really tall dude in a suit walking towards me. After I turned the corner towards the elevators, I realized it was Olie Kolzig. I never realized how tall he really is. I mean, WOW, is he tall! His bio says he's 6-3, but I'm not sure I believe that.

 

The ice was good. Better than I remember from last year.

 

Also met Joe Beninati, the Caps play-by-play announcer, and he's just a short-shitt. Nice guy, though. I told him he calls a good game, but as a Buffalo fan I have to be loyal to Jeanneret. He said that's a tough act to follow.
