inkman Posted December 13, 2006 Author Report Posted December 13, 2006 The three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with the most votes are elected as starters, and the rest of the team is picked by the league. Voting can only be done online at NHL.com. This was in the Buffaro Snooze this a.m. So the only players that get elected to the game by the fans are the starters? The league(?) picks the rest of the players? Am I reading this wrong?

You are reading correct-the top 6(3 forwards, 2 defense and 1 goalie) start, and when the coaches get together for the all star game, they pick the rest of the team.
inkman Posted December 13, 2006 Author Report Posted December 13, 2006 I like Vanek's chances after reading that. Tallinder...not so much, as it should be.
Realist Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 I like Vanek's chances after reading that. Tallinder...not so much, as it should be. I've been voting for Tallinder everytime, but in all honesty, he really shouldn't be in there.
Two or less Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I've been voting for Tallinder everytime, but in all honesty, he really shouldn't be in there. Same here, and i agree. I think Briere, Campbell and Miller will start. And i don't think Drury, Max and Vanek will all go. No way will the league allow Ruff to select three of his own guys when he has 3 already starting. I think Drury may sit it out and let Max and Vanek go instead, he's that type of player. And i agree with the Tallinder part. I vote for him too, but he doesn't deserve it. If he didn't get hurt then yeah he would have been a lock, but he missed 7 weeks now. Tuff luck. He will see many all-stars in the future though.
inkman Posted December 18, 2006 Author Report Posted December 18, 2006 Don't forget to Vote...again and again :D
TM8-PL16 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Vanek deserves to be there... look at the overall play and stats he has... he is a complete player right now and is the definition of an all-star hockey player. I think he is one of the top 12 forwards in the East right now... to me, players like Darcy Tucker don't deserve to go, he's a -9 has 54 PIM and most of his goals are on PP... that doesn't compare to someone like Vanek who is doing it all the time and doesn't cost his team PIM or GA. I think he deserves to be there, but looking at it I think the league will leave him off... they will feel like they have to put some recognizable names there and leave him out... that's fine, the All-Star game is not our goal this year... more rest for the ones who don't make it and another chip on their shoulder to motivate them.
