Chilly Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 I'm attempting to follow in Briere48's footsteps and steal today's gameday thread from Corp, as he hasn't started it yet. :D I probably should study for a test that I have tomorrow, but after not being able to see it on Thursday due to projects/tests, I'm going to watch this game . Last game Briere had his first hat trick of his career, hopefully he'll respond by giving us another one. Injuries: Buffalo - Tallinder and Connolly are both out. Florida - Kolnik and Bertuzzi both will not play. Nieuwendyk retired on Wednesday and thus will also not play. Buffalo News preview of tonight's game. Miami Herald's preview of tonight's action.
nfreeman Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 I'm predicting Pominville finally gets off the schneid and puts one in, along with Vanek, Max and Campbell. Sabres with a fairly ho-hum 4-1 win against a crappy team.
JujuFish Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Florida beat us in 3 of 4 last year, and it took us overtime to take them in the first game this year. I say 3-2, Buffalo.
Corp000085 Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 beaten again... oh well. i'll come back strong this weekend. anyhow, since i called briere's hat trick last game, i'll call vanek's 2 goals and hecht's short handed tonight in a 3-1 victory.

Florida did trap us to death last year...but I think they are missing one of their main reasons for taking 3 from us.

hopeleslyobvious Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Wow, some terrible giveaways early.
norfend Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Mair just went to the dressing room... :censored:
hopeleslyobvious Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Lydman took about 5 steps back tonight. He looked like Lydman from last October. However, he played the 2 on 1 nice.
Mr.Christopher Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Some very sloppy play tonight. Miller was awesome in the first. Penalty kill has been good the past few games, great effort by Vanek on the last 30 seconds of that one penalty kill. I hope Mair is alright.

I saw him down, but didn't see what shook him up.
bob_sauve28 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Ryan Miller :worthy: Thank God that period is over
hopeleslyobvious Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Ryan Miller :worthy: Thank God that period is over You said it. That save late on Jokinen was HUGE.
Mr.Christopher Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 You said it. That save late on Jokinen was HUGE. Nice save on the two on one too.

Penalty kill has been good the past few games, great effort by Vanek on the last 30 seconds of that one penalty kill. I hope Mair is alright. That might be the understatement of the year. Absolutely awful 1st period, ugly ugly ugly hockey. Too many bad passes, giveaways, not taking care of the puck, etc. At this point, I wouldn't blame Lindy if he decided to call a couple guys up and start giving out some healthy scratch games to get their attention.
wjag Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 I missed the first period but was watching it on my Blackberry.. Back at hone and watching now.. At one point they were being outshot 10-1 and finished down 17-3.. That must have been UGLY!!!!
wjag Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Buffalo gives up a PP goal on a Gaustad delay of game.. Good pressure by Florida during the PP Buffalo: Panthers: :death:
Kristian Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Maybe that'll get 'em going, been an embarassment so far. Miller must feel pretty alone out there.
hopeleslyobvious Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Maybe that'll get 'em going, been an embarassment so far. Miller must feel pretty alone out there. That appeared to wake them up. Plus Florida decided to open things up a little bit.
Corp000085 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 This is like 1998 sabres. They're playing crappy, and quite frankly, the game is boring as hell. Now if only brian holzinger can get one by auld, we'll be ready for OT. OT is Plante's time!
wjag Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Wow.. This is just one bad decision and one bad pass after another..

Corp000085 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 is it me, or is the ice particularly terrible out there? i've never seen the puck bounce so much!
hopeleslyobvious Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 I hate to see Vanek miss the net on such a good opportunity. is it me, or is the ice particularly terrible out there? i've never seen the puck bounce so much! I wonder if some teams have bad ice on purpose when the Sabres are in town.
