ko12010 Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 Did anyone notice that he was wearing the white mask again against the Penguins? Maybe the new one is not feeling comfortable right now.
Corp000085 Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 he mentioned in the podcast that his new mask needs to be broken in... till the pads are formed to his head, it can give him headaches and even shift on his head. He said that you have to get used to viewing the play from the new mask. I guess he had a problem with some of the goals he let in on wednesday or in practice thursday and decided to go with the older white mask that he's more comfortable with. I doubt his new mask broke. those things are custom molded to the individual's head with kevlar and other composite materials. You can buy pro grade masks for $1000+... That's not counting the custom fitting... At well over a grand, that mask's not going to break...
eddieshack Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 he mentioned in the podcast that his new mask needs to be broken in... He played better with the white one made some great save, and they won. He'll keep it.
Assquatch Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 They asked him about it on the post game show. He said the new mask is 1/2" - 3/4" narrower than the white one. It sits farther forward on his head so he has less peripheral vision. I don't remember if he said he was getting the new one fixed or what.
sabregoats Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 I personally hope he sticks with the white mask, sometimes about it seems classier. Sort of like when Hasek wears the normal Hockey helmet.
MBD Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 He should get a mask like Hannibal Lecther's from "The Silence of the Lambs." That would unnerve some players.
