bob_sauve28 Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 It seemed like an ok change to me. The players were heading to the bench and the new ones were coming out. Only thing was, the player that came off the bench was right in the play and broke up a rush. I guess the Ref said that was unfair to get such an advantage off of a change. Which makes sense, I guess. You can't have 5 guys get off the bench and have the other five back in the zone skating towards the bench. Sorry if I'm rambling
Eleven Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Only thing was, the player that came off the bench was right in the play and broke up a rush. You guessed correctly; that's what makes the change not "ok."
scottnc Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 If I remember correctly, the guy who stepped off the bench touched the puck. I think that's what triggered the call. That's definitely a tough break for them...

That's definitely a tough break for them... Ya, he jumped off bench and hit Brier from the blind side. Come to think of it that was the second time in game they came off bench and did that. Campbell almost got killed that way earlier in game. Maybe the Sabres complained about that. It really is unfair to have them pop off bench in front of the play while your team is way back down ice behind the play
BuffalOhio Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 The player he was replacing was still 15-20 feet from the bench. Unfair advantage. Good call.
MBD Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 You could say it's as cheap a penalty as the delay of game Campbell got int he 3rd period of game 7 against Carolina.
