Tarrytown Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 He's just so clutch. But I guess the 'Nucks feel that they have sooo many great players who needs anothe clutch forward.
PTS Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 What? Drury is American and as so is a member of Team USA. Are you refering to Briere?
Tarrytown Posted December 22, 2005 Author Report Posted December 22, 2005 Sorry total space cadet moment...it just saw Doan on the roster and was wondering what they were thinking. He just doesn't jump out at me as a someone I'd put on there over some other uys they have.

deluca67 Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 It was better when the team was made up of College and Junior players. It's what made 1980 so special. If the US wins? So what? Great! A group of guys can add a gold medal to their pile of money. It once use to be that the Olympics made stars. Made atheletes house hold names. Having million dollar players in the Olympics is like going to your high school Science Fair and finding out Stephen Hawkins has entered.

I am much more likely to root for whatever team a Sabre is playing on than the team from my country. This would be different if college kids were playing. Say something stupid, I miss disagreeing with you :(

Maybe I'm just older, maybe it because of the Soviet Union's collapse, steroid, etc., but I really could care less about the Olympics anymore...

This would be different if college kids were playing. Say something stupid, I miss disagreeing with you :( Here you go ;) Your post are always interesting and well thought out. Anyway. Lets not stop at Hockey and Basketball. Let's use Pro's for every sport. Lets put Mike Tyson on the Boxing Team. Batista and the Undertaker on the Wrestling Team. For gymnastics we could use Porn Stars and Strippers, though we would still lose to Canada on that one. And if the US still loses the Gold Medal? We can always claim that country has terrorists and we can invade it. ;)

Stoner Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 He's just so clutch. But I guess the 'Nucks feel that they have sooo many great players who needs anothe clutch forward. It's OK Tarrytown. We've all had those moments on here. I recently wrote that not winning a Cup would hurt Hasek's legacy. :o

apuszczalowski Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 your all just bitter cause the Canadians are going to beat everybody and the Americans will be lucky to finish in the top 5, LOL
Guest Guest Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 your all just bitter cause the Canadians are going to beat everybody and the Americans will be lucky to finish in the top 5, LOL Careful there. Don't make us send our Salvation Army over the boarder and take your country over. ;)
Saber61 Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 your all just bitter cause the Canadians are going to beat everybody and the Americans will be lucky to finish in the top 5, LOL i happen to be Canadian...
Taro T Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 i happen to be Canadian... Yeah, but you're not a REAL Canuck. :o Who ever heard of one that likes the Sabres? ;) Sheesh, they're probably working on revoking your donut and ballet rights! :P  PS You do realize that I have had WAY too much to drink tonight and this is all tongue in cheek. Right?
inkman Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 your all just bitter cause the Canadians are going to beat everybody and the Americans will be lucky to finish in the top 5, LOL I actually have rooted against the Americans with all the a-holes that have been on the team recently. I couldn't root for a team with JR or Brett Hull. On the other hand, I will be rooting against the Czech's. Leaving Kotalik off the team is moronic, and I'm not going to get into my Hasek loathing anymore. Maybe I'll root for Vanek and the Austrians or Hecht and the Germans.

There is no Austrian team in the olympics so Vanek will not be playing I'm a Canadian who is sitting in his office at work wearing my Sabres Jersey right now, there are some of us here in Leafs country that rout for a good and not the joke of a retirement village they have at the Air Canada Centre. (I'm also a bills fan, although I don't like to admit it) I only live about a 1/2 hour away from the arena so I call the sabres my hometown team!
inkman Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 I heard Austria has to play the "play in" game/tournament. I'm sure I could validate this with one ounce of work but that sound like one more ounce than I'm willing to do. :P
inkman Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 "Rookie winger Thomas Vanek would be a lock for the Olympics, but Austria needs to play its way into the tournament, and those preliminary games will be held before the NHL's Olympic break." - courtesy of the Buffalo News
