BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Listened to Lindy's postgame comments on Sabres.com ... at the end, after they have cut it off on the postgame show, he said his arm is indeed broken again and he will have surgery tomorrow. He was not sure on time, he said 4-8 weeks, which is a big range. He also said it did noot show up on postgame Xrays in NY but when it was still bothering him after practice they did more tests and found it. I am not too worried about Paetsch, just a bummer for Tallinder. Maybe having surgery and putting a plate in (I assume) will help him get back faster.
ThePolishSabre Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Tallinder is our best D man. Paetsch has huge shoes to fill.
inkman Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Paetsch didn't look terrible but you could tell he was a bit jittery with some of his passes.
Corp000085 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 i think the defense played well. however, paetsch won't have to fill for tallinder... everyone else will just bump up. it'll take another game or two, but the team will adjust and be fine. Hopefully the injury bug will stay off of our defenders for a while though (did anyone hold their breath when spacek stayed down for a few seconds in the 3rd?)

It's what puts the Sabres above and beyond the other teams in the NHL. While other teams struggle to put out a decent 20 man roster. The Sabres can go at least 25 deep as far as players who can play in the NHL. The Sabres went 10 games without an injury. Which almost as amazing as the 10-0 start. The good thing about a broken arm is that Tallinder can still skate and keep in game shape. Paestch will be fine. Who knows in 6 weeks we may be talking that there is no room in the defensive corps for Tallinder when he is ready to return.

B-)
blugold43 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 yeah....it's not a question of whether guys will get hurt, but it's more a matter of who, when and how bad. that is why we may (again) have the best team and nothing to show for it when the season's over. but we have to take solace in the fact that other teams have less of a tolerance for injuries than we do.
LabattBlue Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Tallinder is far and away our best blueliner and if you don't believe me ask Lydman who Tallinder has been carrying since the beginning of the year. He will be missed. Here's hoping for a quick recovery.

frisky Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I hope we don't lose anyone else especially on D. I think if the injury bug starts hitting our D again this year, the back end could sputter a bit. Although the kids down in Rochester probably will turn out to fill in down the road they are still a little green. I hope we can stay relatively healthy back there for a while.
