wjag Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Would you, could you, should you.... Atlanta Coach Hartley switched out Goalie Hedberg for Lehtonen the other night to start the SO. Hedberg had a decent game holding Philly to just two goals... You know the result... Seems bizzare to me. It's a move I could see Laviolette pulling... So could you see the case where we started Biron and installed Miller for the SO? Miller has stoned some good shooters this year already and seems to just raise his game when he is in a SO.
Corp000085 Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 miller will start... and switching goalies for the shootout should be outlawed. seems like a cheap tactic.
Sabresince70 Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I thought I remember something about the goalies can't be switched unless an injury has occurred - Didn't it happen last year with Mika/Marty? If someone has latest rule version, please help.

IIRC, Biron didn't stop a shot when he went in for Noronen against the rangers last year after Noronen got hurt.
Sabresince70 Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 OK - I was wrong. Rule 84.4 says once a shootout starts, a goalie can only be changed for injuries. I also have to admit, I didn't thin it would be so easy to get the rules (downloaded it).
