Drive For Five Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 I don't live in Buffalo and missed the beginning of the game. Why is Briere sitting out today after playing last night? Is he hurt or are the Sabres just being cautious with back to back games?
DevilsAlum Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 I'm watching the game here in chilly North Tonawanda and the announcers have not said why Briere is out
blugold43 Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 i pray he's just being rested because we should be able to beat this team without him. is anyone listening to jeanerrate's call? i am stuck with the pgh. announcers.
Monkeygirl Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 They said he was in the warmups but felt sore so it's not like he was in street clothes from the start. I think they're being cautious....
Larry Playfair Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 radio is reporting a hip injury.
Hawerchuk Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 I watched the PIT feed on Center Ice and they were saying Hip Injury as well. Nothing more however.
Guest Repster Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 Buffalo News reports it is the abdominal injury flare up
Larry Playfair Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 http://buffalonews.com/editorial/20051218/1054022.asp from the Buff news: Sabres co-captain Daniel Briere was scratched because the nagging abdominal injury that kept him out of eight games flared up again Saturday morning. Briere had a goal and assisted on the winner in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Penguins. "I thought he was by far our best player (Friday) night," Ruff said. "But he woke up really sore. We'll just have to see how he feels after rest again." Ruff replaced Briere with Jason Pominville on a line with center Tim Connolly and winger Ales Kotalik. Enforcer Andrew Peters was inserted on the fourth line with center Paul Gaustad and winger Adam Mair. The Sabres also lost winger Mike Grier after one shift in the third period. He took a cross check in the ribs Friday night and felt increased discomfort as Saturday's game wore on. Grier's injury will be re-evaluated this morning.
Monkeygirl Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 It looks like Briere and Grier will be back tonight which is huge.......Briere is really our best player offensively and Grier is usually good on penalty killing and forechecking in general. I'm going off information from TBN
blugold43 Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 #48 is not in the line-up. dammit.
