Claude_Verret Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Just when I think it's not possible to hate Caniacs more...comes this
inkman Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Little help...no worky at worky. What's in the cartoon?
Claude_Verret Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 Little help...no worky at worky. What's in the cartoon? It's a cartoon take off on the Geico commercials where they have an actual customer teling a story and an actor "translating" Karmanos = customer Ric Flair = actor Lot's of "woo-hooing" ensues.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Actually that's pretty funny ... it's totally making fun of them. That paper has done other ones even funnier making fun of UNC football coach John Bunting and NC State coach Chuck Amato ... It really does point out how ridiculous they are with the mascot and Flair and all that crap.
TM8-PL16 Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 I actually laughed... especially at the outtakes. guys, it's ok to think something if funny even when it is dumb and promotes another team. It doesn't mean you like the 'canes just cause you find that amusing. the coach K one is hilarous too!, going to watch the others....
wjag Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 This is pretty funny. I like the out takes as well. "Our mascots a pig". I didn't know that..
SCSabresFan! Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Are you kidding - these cartoons are GREAT! They are very popular down here - especially with the ACC crowd. ACC Basketball Handbook
Quickdraw Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Claude, did you get the memo that the Sabres are 10-0 and Carolina is having problems?
Tarrytown Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Well, to the victors go the spoils...and they did win the cup...soooooooo when we win...we can return the favor.
KansasPat Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Just when I think it's not possible to hate Caniacs more...comes this You're way too uptight if this gets you upset. These cartoons -- all of them -- are hilarious
FogBat Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Yeah, okay. I find it interesting how Mike Commodore did a pretty good job of doing a Keith Green impersonation with only one noticeable difference: Keith Green's hair and beard were brown. Now, once the Sabres win, I'd like to see them do the same thing with Tom Golisano and the Goo Goo Dolls.
Claude_Verret Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 You're way too uptight if this gets you upset. These cartoons -- all of them -- are hilarious I don't hate the Canes team, never have. It's the 10 times I had this forwarded to me today by "Caniacs" that irks me. To those of you that don't live amongst them, you really have no idea.
Sabre Dance Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I got a kick out of "Karamanos" saying that they named the team after a devastating tropical storm. I've actually wondered how the people on the Gulf Coast felt when a team named after a storm that DID devastate their area won a major sports championship. I also got a kick when "Karamanos" states that attendance wasn't so good at first, but it got better. Yep - helped out by all of those Sabres fans scarfing up ECF tickets last year. How come I don't hear news stories out of Raleigh that the Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes are close to selling out THEIR season? I say, "Harumph!"

Maybe because Raleigh may be an even smaller market than Buffalo, and has only become a hockey hotbed due to their Stanley Cup victory. (I'm still confused why Karmanos didn't take them to Charlotte instead of Raleigh. That made no sense whatsoever. Charlotte already had the Panthers and the Bobcats, so why not a hockey team? Sure, it would have displaced the ECHL's Checkers, but at least they would have quickly established the fan base. What on earth is Raleigh known for? Bicycles?)
