mediumishot Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I dont know about you guys but i have this gut feeling that dannys injury may be a lil more serious then what the coaches are saying. Hes been out since toronto and i just dont have a good feeling about it. is it substantiated? or am i still jittery over last years injury plague? feel free to ease my fears
Done Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 My buddy came back to the car at the Bills tailgate and goes "I just met Danny Briere coming out of the Port-o-potty. He's a really nice guy, but he's so small." My reply was...."Was he limping?"......."No, why?" He's good to go according to my Lot 1 source!

Your investigative reporting skills are top notch. :D
X. Benedict Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 That's what we love about Danny: he is totally fearless - the guy goes into porto-potty's at the Ralph.
shrader Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Good enough for me. Your investigative reporting skills are top notch. :D I'm still trying to figure out whether or not this source is more reliable than PTS's sources.

It was the fu-fu lot right in front of the stadium, but that still takes guts. It was before 12 too, so he's gotta be a fan. Would Drury do that? Hmmmnnnnn.....
Stoner Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I'm still trying to figure out whether or not this source is more reliable than PTS's sources. The difference is that PTS meets his sources INSIDE the john. Seriously, yes you are right to worry. I pointed out last playoffs that the sport does itself and the fans no favors by lying about injuries. It just creates confusion, skepticism and worry. After we were told Timmy was just fine and likely to play in Game 2, how can we believe anything? I don't see what is gained by being deceitful about injuries now, but where there's smoke, there's fire. Danny's injury was no big deal, and he was to return to practice in a few days. Well, where is he?
Corp000085 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 i'll only begin to worry around 3pm on october 4th, if danny didn't go for the morning skate... Then i'll worry BIG TIME. It sucks to have a rent a player, but it sucks even more to have an injured rent a player.

Well, where is he? Thanks for the update Doc. As far as I know, the best remedy for a hip flexor injury is rest. They are probably giving him a little extra rest so that he is 100% on October 4th.
hopeleslyobvious Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 http://www.wgr550.com/sabres/fullstory.php?id=1887 Danny will be back on the ice tomorrow.

Well, where is he? Can't agree more here - the NHL, while taking big strides to shed itself of the "garage league" image that has hampered its growth on the national scene, continues to lag behind in some areas - little details that other leagues have generally hammered out. My short list: outright lying about injuries; suspensions that are weak, ineffective and a non-deterrent to actions that put players at risk (see Orpik, Brooks; Bertuzzi, Todd; Tucker, Darcy, and the list goes on); a replay system that can be described as inconsistent at best; and not announcing why a goal is allowed or disallowed. I am sure there are more things that the NHL could do better, but these are off the top of my head, and I think they are all a product of the NHL's "old-school" mindset. Granted, the league did implement new rules to increase scoring and (finally) pushed for consistent enforcement of the rules on the books, especially those in regards to penalties that hold down scoring, such as hooking, obstruction, clutching & grabbing; but those penalties and game flow issues should have been adressed years ago. To me, its frustrating to see something I love so much, that has so much potential, but can't get out of its own way sometimes.
