The Sabres trade fan favorite Brian Spencer to Pittsburgh for Ron Schock. Spencer played four seasons in Buffalo, recording 114 points and 206 PIM in 240 games. Schock took Spencer's number 21 but played only half a season in the blue and gold.

Surely someone can pick up the sad story of Brian Spencer...

And surely someone remembers his nickname.

When I was in elementary school, my mom took me and my brother to a speech that Spinner was giving at the local highschool. Can't remember what he said, but I did get a poster. Sucks how things ended up for the guy.

Ran into Spinner at Brennan's Bowery Bar right after he was traded. Told him we would miss him and he said he would miss Buffalo. Bought him a beer. He was a real down to earth guy. He did not adjust well to life after hockey.
