syr6987 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 from hockeybuzz.com .........also says biron will remain backup untill later in season for a trade
That Aud Smell Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 <sigh> dude, could you put a qualifier on your subject line when you're posting to relate a rumor from hockeybuzz?
hopeleslyobvious Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 <sigh> dude, could you put a qualifier on your subject line when you're posting to relate a rumor from hockeybuzz? I second that!
Stoner Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I'm telling ya, that's where the salt shaker post icon would come in very handy.

What's really disturbing is how many people seem to trust hockeybuzz. I was in the car a lot over the last couple of days, and they have Eklund on XM and treat him like he is a credible source. I usually like the hockey coverage on XM, but they give Eklund too much credit.

Way to name the guy.

apuszczalowski Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 So we still don't have a Backup goalie (besides Marty) and Marty will be staying around for a little while longer. Well, atleast it was an attempt at some breaking news
shrader Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 You owe me for going to that site to check it out. The goalie is Adam Berkhoel. And I'm probably one of about 2 people on this board who even know who he is. He was on the winning end of probably the greatest minute of hockey I've ever seen. He stood on his head as Denver held onto a 1-0 lead against Maine, facing a 6-on-3 situation in the NCAA championship game. But anyway, even if Eklund is somehow right, this isn't a backup signing. He'd be a #3 goalie at best, even after Marty is moved.

eliwhitneyradio Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Eklund didn't even report it.
syr6987 Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 <sigh> dude, could you put a qualifier on your subject line when you're posting to relate a rumor from hockeybuzz? not a rumor my man actaully happened
hopeleslyobvious Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 not a rumor my man actaully happened Do you have a source other than hockeybuzz?
shrader Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Do you have a source other than hockeybuzz? But they're always right.
BuffalOhio Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 No recent news on this player: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/3624
shrader Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 No recent news on this player: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/3624 He was called up early in the year when Atlanta was having their injury issues. That's basically the whole story.
X. Benedict Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I think it is probably legit. Probably a two way contract - this guy is really for Ra-cha-cha.
mphs mike Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 I think it is probably legit. Probably a two way contract - this guy is really for Ra-cha-cha. Wel we need a goalie for the Amerks so we are at least making "progress" on getting the whole organizations goal situation settled. Now let's get the parent club with two goalies under contract!
sabres703 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 i think if it was that big a deal sabres.com might have had it ontheir website.......... also if you want good info try thefourthperiod.com.... they seem to be a little slow but always right on. eklund always seems to lean towards the flyers or some other atlantic team ...........
That Aud Smell Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 not a rumor my man actaully happened it "actually happened" as in you're the unnamed backup goalie's agent? an employee with the sabres' front office? larry quinn's masseuse? darcy regier's bartender? if it "actually happened," it should be on the news wires, and it ain't. still, i understand from some of the other members here that this guy may well have been acquired, but that he'd be earmarked for rochester. in which case, i'd errantly made a jump by inferring that this rumor (sorry, fact) was also meant to imply that marty was on the move.
Goodfella25 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Obviously this is shotty reporting because this hasn't been made official, and I doubt it ever will be. No credible sources show Buffalo or even Rochester signing anyone in the last couple days, let alone someone with NHL experience.
shrader Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 The NHL webpage has Burkhoel listed as a Sabre, so I guess that makes it official. Still, its strange that this didn't even get a throw away mentioning on any serious website.
slapshot1619 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 He's also listed on the sabres training camp roster
BuffalOhio Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 First I heard of it was when I heard Darcy mention him during the Ryan Miller signing news conference. Strange indeed.
