thesportsbuff Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 How about... Biron & Dumont to St. Louis for Hinote and Sanford. Biron and Dumont dumps off about $5 mil, we get a backup goalie and an average - for about 1.5 mil. St. Louis gets an over-payed forward and a nice starting goaltender for $5 mil.
Fighting Chicken Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 I'm not sure how either team's GM would feel about that deal but it definitely wouldn't be beyond the real of possibility. I think they could possibly push for Hinote & Sanford just for Biron and maybe a low end pick. Hinote is a Buffalo-type player - hard-nosed, hard working and chips in when needed to - but do they really need another player like that? I haven't seen too much of Sanford to comment but a back-up is a back-up for me. If they sign Dumont to trade him, they'll get very little back for him (same with Biron) because of the salary dump situation. The other positive the Sabres may get from that sort of deal is they can get both players out of the conference in a contolled manner and not let them potentially sign for a divisional or conference rival where they have the perfect opportunity to bite the team in the butt every few weeks during the season. I can still see them walking away from Dumont's deal though to be honest.
Saber61 Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Hmm yea but we all thought they would walk from afinogenov and briere. or one of those two... i think regier might shell for dumont... if only just for this season...
