mphs mike Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Anyone else intrigued and pleased that Daniel Paille is participating in this weeks rookie camp? It shows me a positive, hard working, take nothing for granted attitude that I like. It also makes me think he's doing everything he can to stick around and wear blue/gold rather then red,white, blue for the opener. Maybe he thinks a forward slot or two will be his for the taking at training camp after the round of arbitration. I can't see Briere, Dumont, and Max in Sabres uni's at the start of the season.
Wild Jay Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I agree, I think Paille has the best chance of any rookie to make it on to the roster out of the gate. I really liked what I saw of him last year. Remember this kid had only played maybe 20 to 25 games in the AHL before coming up mid-season, so he is young with a lot of upside. Plus there's no way I can see us keeping Danny, JP, and Max, plus keeping Biron if need be. Even if we spent up to the cap, I don't think we could keep them all to be honest as we still also have to re-sign Miller and Kalinin. Somebody has to go and I think Paille will be the one to take advantage of it and make the team.
shrader Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 But Tom Morrow's there too. I'm absolutely disgusted that this guy actually gets to wear a Sabres uniform, even if it's one of those crappy practice jerseys. It would be nice if Zagrapan was there, but oh well.
Wild Jay Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I'm still holding out hope that Zagrapan will be signed once all this arbitration business is done with. The same goes for goalie Adam Dennis. We have no goalies at all in the minors now, so I'd think Darcy would try to sign him.
shrader Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 I think it's worth noting that one of our college prospects, Nathan Gerbe from BC, is out because he decided to drop his gloves in a summer league fight. Yeah, that doesn't work out so well when the other guy's wearing a cage.
shrader Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 He may not be smart but he's got moxy... In other words, he's an idiot (of course, there's a much longer story about that). Oh, and he's something like 5'4, so he needs to act like that to stay alive probably.
