Goodfella25 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 "NHL Insider" known as Taylor Code is reporting that Florida has contacted Buffalo about Biron today (Thursday). They are also talking to Montreal about Aebischer. I'm basically putting this out there for speculative purposes only...so who could we get from Florida? Who would be a good fit? Would it even be a player, or just a pick??? Personally I don't see much that we could realistically get from Florida in terms of players. Of course I'd take Jokinen or Bouwmeester but that ain't gonna happen. Code is also reporting that they will settle for Legace if they can't get Biron or Aebischer....also the Leafs have supposedly signed Anson Carter and made a 3 year offer to Peca....Bruins have made an offer to Petr Sykora For those that don't already know, his blog can be found here: Inside the Code

thesportsbuff Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 This is the same guy that said Biron for Bertuzzi was a done deal on the deadline day. I missed that one at deadline day, but let's hope that doesn't happen now. I have no respect for him. Back on topic, I don't think Florida realistically has anyone worth dealing.
BuffalOhio Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 I missed that one at deadline day, but let's hope that doesn't happen now. I have no respect for him. Back on topic, I don't think Florida realistically has anyone worth dealing. Prospects, probably. Anyone know their organ-eye-zation?

Corp000085 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 having biron here reminds me of the contingency plan... miller is still unsigned. If he remains unsigned and decides to hold out, biron will get his wish of being a starter on an nhl team. with that being said, maybe the sabres can trade biron to florida for a draft pick and prospect goalie since we just lost leighton? I assume that biron will be gone while the ink on miller's contract is still wet.
elcrusho Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 So yeah... would you buy a Bouwmeester jersey?
RayFinkle Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 This is the same guy that said Biron for Bertuzzi was a done deal on the deadline day. How do you know it didn't fall through at the last minute?
elcrusho Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 ANOTHER LINK A rumor was circulating yesterday that the reason this deal has been stalled was because the Wings were working a deal that would have sent Lang to Buffalo for Biron plus a forward. The forward was the sticking point. The Panthers are now in talks to get Biron, and the Sabres would like Bouwmeester. The Panthers, who have cap room, may take one of the arbitration players off the Sabres hands. Word is Adam Mair could go the other way. The Panthers are also considering Aebischer as an alternative.
slapshot1619 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 For immediate prospects we could just check out rochester... since Buffalo shares the Amerks with the Panthers. as for prospects in juniors checkout Hockeysfuture.com... I wouldn't mind Rotislav Olesz for Marty
apuszczalowski Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 ANOTHER LINK Biron and Mair for Bouwmeester?? Although as much as I would hate to lose Mair, Bouwmeester would be a great young addition to the team, I'd even take Nathan Horton in that deal, bring the local kid to the Sabres!
BetweenThePipes00 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Biron and Mair for Bouwmeester would be stunning ... your backup goalie and a 4th liner for a 22-year old D-man drafted 3rd overall and scored 46 points last season AND was a plus on a bad team?!? Even Keenan is not that crazy... I know to them Biron would be a #1 goalie, but still ... I don't care how far the kid is in his doghouse, if he puts him up for bid he will get a better offer ... I think we are connecting the wrong dots here ... even if everything Eklund says is true, think about it ... he says: The Sabres WOULD LIKE Bouwmeester ... doesn't actually say Florida is offering him ... And it says Mair MAY be going the other way ... If the deal is Biron and Mair for 2 prospects, he's still 100% right ... the Sabres would have liked Bouwmeester (who wouldn't?), and Mair went the other way ...
LabattBlue Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Biron and Mair for Bouwmeester?? Although as much as I would hate to lose Mair, Bouwmeester would be a great young addition to the team, I'd even take Nathan Horton in that deal, bring the local kid to the Sabres! If Darcy can pull off Biron & Mair for Bouwmeester, he would be GM of the century and Mike Keenan should be fired ASAP. I believe it would take a LOT more to get Bouwmeester out of Florida.
SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 I missed that one at deadline day, but let's hope that doesn't happen now. I have no respect for him. Back on topic, I don't think Florida realistically has anyone worth dealing. Maybe Florida doesn't have anyone WE want, but that doesn't mean a three team deal is out of the question.....

It's been mentioned a few times on this board, look at the return Columbus got for Marc Denis. Looking at stats, age, and salary, these two are a very good comparison. The market has thinned a bit since then, but Marty still has some real value. You're right that Bouwmeester would be an absolute steal (throw in a real forward instead of Mair and maybe we'll talk), but we'll get a good return for Marty eventually.
apuszczalowski Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Maybe the deal would also include draft picks, like the one we just got for Pyatt from Vancouver?
chileanseabass Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 i could see a deal like biron, mair, and kotalik for bouwmeester, but biron and mair straight up? no way.
shrader Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 i could see a deal like biron, mair, and kotalik for bouwmeester, but biron and mair straight up? no way. They'd be more likely to package a defensman in that deal, maybe someone like Lydman. With the top 6 we have right now, it would make no sense to bring in Bouwmeester without moving one of them. This team will not be paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5 million for a 7th defensman (whoever that would be).

Lydman played really well on a team with Tallinder, i wouldn't want to break any chemistry the have. Bouwmeester could play with Spacek and have Cambell and Teppo, then one of the kids from Rochestor playing at #7, occasionally rotating in with Teppo every couple games to keep him from getting over worked

bottlecap Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Rumor: http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=2372 Hate to give up Mair but I love it!
ThePebble19 Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 would be a nice addition, but I agree...I hate to give up Mair.
LabattBlue Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Rumor: http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=2372 Hate to give up Mair but I love it! Like I stated earlier in this thread, I believe it would take a LOT more than Biron and Mair to get a potential all-star like Bouwmeester. That being said, if Darcy can pull it off, I wouldn't be worried about losing a 4th line grinder with concussion problems. Mair can be replaced.

How about Biron, Mair, and the 4th rounder from Vancouver for Bouwmeester (or Horton)?
