cesna Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I think Biron is capable of winning games in this league. He and Mika are rusty. As soon as they shake off the rust (hopefully sooner rather than later) they should be able to hold the fort down until Miller gets back. Though if Marty and Mika don't figure out how to square up to the shooter I think the season is LOST! I mean come on, HAVLET had some of the weakest goals go in!!!!!
Saber61 Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 agreed... its what ive been saying the whole time... biron is soft... he can't force himself into position with authority... he kinda just throws himself there softly... i said in another thread... he looks more afraid of the puck in there then he is aggressive... as if he's not wearing a helmet and is afraid of getting hit... all he stops is the shots from the outside.

If he's expecting a shot from the outside that is, Biron has to be one of the worst goalies I ever saw when he's not 100% expecting a shot. Seems like he goes into these blackouts, like on the first goal last night. WTF, don't they teach you to cover your posts in peewee??!??!?! On the third I think it was, had he gone down ANY earlier the puck would've been in the friggin' neutral zone, and once it gets thrown across the slot, he's flapping around like a beached whale, Christ almighty...... For pete's sake, call up Leighton, can he be any worse? Mika was just as crap, but what can you expect when he gets thrown to the wolves like that?
Saber61 Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 this is like when they threw miller to the wolves back last season when they played detroit and got reemed like 7-1 same with 6-0 against islanders in the last season opener they played back in 03-04... nothing you can do though.. he have to switch it up a bit... it seemd to give the team a bit of life once noronen went in... then ottawa said "no... you think you can score 3 goals and come back...." then here comes the big line... we get reemed for another 3 before the period is over... just a mess all way around.
DrunkenSabre Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 They need to shake this rust off by friday. well at least this will showcase tweedledum and tweedledee more than they would usually get.

I agree, we will see what the 2005-06 Sabres are really made of this weekend. I'll be really interesting to see how they come out from such a horrific loss at home. If they come out sluggish, like they don't care and play friday like it's just "another game" then we'll have problems. I can see them coming out huge, every line that hits the ice for the first time will come out strong. We'll have a 2-0 lead at the 10min mark of the first period. The moral and the heart of the Sabres will be on display the next 2 games, we'll see what our boys are made of.

That is how the Sabres measure up to the NHL's best. 15-4. They lost by 5 with Miller in the net and 6 with him out. This team has a long way to go. Shame as it is. Briere is having a great season. ;)
ThePolishSabre Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 wasn't the moral and heart showcase supposed to start against ottawa... not to put a damper on things but we can push the 'start' of this so called showcase as far as we want... were just creating false hope... Could not agree more. Now I don't understand why people lie to themselfs. It's crazy, i mean when your mom found your porno's under the bed, we all lieded about it... which is understandable. But Biron is garbage, and let's face it, so is Mika. These aren't the "new" sabres, just the same good ol' sabres that we all know and love.
DrunkenSabre Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 That'll mean taking away just about any shots from Montreal, and I mean ANY. Biron has yet to stop the first three shots in a game. im sure he will. i can but imagine the sort of "words" ruff would have had with him. he let us down, no excuses (so did noronen, but he hasnt played since the dawn of time and his 3rd string anyway, ill let him off). he knows his team have no confidence in him now, but he has to play like god himself to win it back. easy to lose confidence in someone, harder to gain it. but i agree with briere48. this team will come out firing on every available cylinder. GO SABRES!
Saber61 Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 but i agree with briere48. this team will come out firing on every available cylinder. doesn't help when every other team has 8 cylinders and you have 4 cylinders...
Swedesessed Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I agree. Lets not use the Ottawa games as examples of how the goalies will perform etc. Ottawa right now is a very bad matchup for the Sabres, ESPECIALLY after the rule changes. Now we are just getting outclassed talent wise against that team.
