PTS Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 OK, when hockey ever gets back to playing, I have an idea I wish the league would consider. Let me know what you think. Being a soccer fan, many leagues around the world have Cup games during the season. In some leagues, the inter-season Cup is the biggest prize, more so than winning the league. In other league's it's just a way to keep fan interest up during the long season. Here's how it would work. We'll call it "The Labatt Cup" as the competition would be named for the main sponsor. The competition is a knock out tournament and the first few rounds would be all the minor league teams playing each other. At one stage the NHL teams would join in. It's a one game knock out until the end. Usually the Championship game is played at a neutral site. The tournament starts with the minor league teams at the start of the season. I'd envision having this end sometime in late January. What do you think?
