Eleven Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 Any bets on who wins? Anyway, if you're up late and need some puck because you've got nothing that rhymes with it, CBC has you covered. Correction on title--it's '88, not '90.
topshelfcookies Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 We were watching that game on the bar TV's last night. I can't believe how wide open and how fast hockey was, just 15 years ago. It looked like they were playing on an ice surface that was bigger than an Olympic sized rink. Incredible!

Monkeygirl Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Goalie equipment and goalies in general were a lot smaller then, too. And it seemed like the butterfly style was just starting to evolve. It was very unorthodox goaltending, although I know Roy entered the league in 85'. I mean on one goal last night, instead of pushing across to make the save on a passing play, Moog just lunged to the other side and completely missed the puck. Hockey just looked so free and open. No neutral zone trap or left-wing locks. I never get to see Gretzky play so watching parts of these games is really fun.
