Stoner Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 As fo the magic #, it's real simple. The Sabres needed to win (or tie) 20 minutes of hockey (~0.33 of a game) to have to right to battle for 4 more W's. Thus, they were 4.33 away from having a really cool parade. Dude, like, you just totally blew my mind.
Corp000085 Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 A lot more time, and some Cups, before Ruff enters that rarified air. I don't want to split hairs with Corp's post, but he does imply that he thinks Lindy is a HOF coach now. Although it could also be interpreted to mean he thinks we have a future HOF coach. Corp? You can read recaps of those two seasons here: http://www.sabresfans.com/history/knox.asp?artid=81 http://www.sabresfans.com/history/knox.asp?artid=82 Please note that the reviews are written by News sports writer and Sabre historian Budd Bailey. This site says the articles are reprinted with permission, yet someone else's name appears at the top. That really bugs me, but the reviews are great and worth reading, no matter where they unfortunately reside. (Budd's own site that used to have the reviews is no longer up and running.) PA, i was implying that lindy is a HOF candidate if he stays the course and coaches another 5 or 10 years. Even if he doesn't win a cup but coaches decent sabres teams, that's a hall worthy career in my book. I'd say he's a shoe in if they actually pull off a cup victory during his sabres tenure.
DWarner Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 I just heard Patty Lala was brought back to the org as well. Anyone know in what capacity? Newyorkislanders.com just says "front office roles". Maybe he'll be selling tickets like Joe Crozier. The Islanders also announced that Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine has been named Senior Advisor to the Owner. LaFontaine played for Nolan in Buffalo. Not sure what that means exactly...
Taro T Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 The Islanders also announced that Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine has been named Senior Advisor to the Owner. LaFontaine played for Nolan in Buffalo. Not sure what that means exactly... It means Wang now has a new golfing buddy. :P
BuffalOhio Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 It means Wang now has a new golfing buddy. :P I'm Al Czervik and this is my buddy Wang. Hey Wang, what's with the pictures? It's a parking lot! Ok Wang, this club is restricted, so don't tell 'em you're Jewish.
frisky Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Sounds like a fluff/PR type position for Patty. Probably just name association and curry favor with the fans.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Good for Ted, I hope he does well and gets a fair shake..........I can see him strangling Yashin on the bench after one of his "shifts"............. :D
