Eleven Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Here are a few that surprised me: Vancouver not making the playoffs at all. The Rangers nearly winning a division. The first-round exits of all top four playoff seeds out West. (Not individually, just the collective collapse of all four).
Corp000085 Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 I think that the collapse of detroit, philly, toronto, and dallas officially signalled the end of the "old NHL". Sure, it ended last july, but these teams were the holdovers. Now that one season is nearly complete, i'm going to be very interested to see how parity, the cap, and the style implimented by buffalo, edmonton, carolina, etc. takes shape. Next season will be as exciting as this season.
PromoTheRobot Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Don't forget Carolina was picked to be next-to-last, right after the Sabres. Them being in the Cup finals is pretty shocking. PTR
BuffalOhio Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 How 'bout the 8th-seeded Oilers winning the Cup? FU Hurricanes!
