blugold43 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 i can't stream wgr at work, so if they made an announcement of some sort (however unlikely that is) i wouldn't be able to hear it. i assume there has been no further update on his playing status? man, we need a lift, and we could really use that guy on the forecheck...

Take it for what it's worth but Sabresfans.com has him out until next year. No injury news yet but I'll keep you posted. Ryan Miller may have tipped the hand on Teppo's injury. He said that Janik will be better in tonights game. Does anyone want to see Mair inserted into the lineup if he is healthy? Perhaps at Vanek's expense?
blugold43 Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 well, for whatever reason, it looks like the playoff game is too fast for vanek at this point. i don't pretend to know why that would be; all i know is what i see. he just doesn't seem to react quickly enough to be any help in creating scoring chances for the team. i don't want to dump on the guy too hard because he is only a rookie, and i think we all should have learned our lesson with connolly. but yeah, i would be playing mair instead of vanek IF he is cleared. and i don't think it would be irresponsible to do so- they pay these docs an awful lot to make these decisions and therefore they should have faith in them.

apuszczalowski Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I would be really surprised to see Mair and Conolley back at all this year. I have a feeling that these morning skates and practices they have been involved in are more for mind games then anything else (see Hasek in the last round) I know Mair could really help the Sabres if Healthy, but does everyone here really believe that after all this time he has missed he is going to be able to step right in and be effective? Its not like he has much time to get back into game shape and back to the level he was playing at before the injury. Another question, with all the time Mair missed this year, even if he does play in the finals, will he get his name on the cup? I know you have to play in a certain number of games that season to get your name on the cup. (I think it was the last time the devils won they were discussing weither Kidd, Brodeurs backup at the time, would get his name on the cup cause he did not play much behind Belfour, even though he was the listed backup for the entire year, if I'm not mistaken)
Orange Seats Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I think you have to have played in 40 regular season games, or 1 playoff game.

Dan Gross Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I think you have to have played in 40 regular season games, or 1 playoff game. Actually, I think you only need to dress for the afore-mentioned games. Thus backup goalies would get their name on it.
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I think you have to have played in 40 regular season games, or 1 playoff game. You can petition the commissioner for a name to be added... Now everybody be quiet, the hockey god don't like arrogance... ;) ;) Interesting facts can be found at NHL.com... Like Boston's last cup is spelled: Bqstqn...
johnnychemo Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 read in USA today that he went to see a specialist in Pittsburg yesterday, doesnt sound good and cant believe not a good enough specialist in bufalo or rochester. No, this is standard. He was cleared for contact practice last week by this same doc, and it was generally known he'd be back there this week for a followup and (hopefully) clearance for games.
BuffalOhio Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 read in USA today that he went to see a specialist in Pittsburg yesterday, doesnt sound good and cant believe not a good enough specialist in bufalo or rochester. He was seeing the specialist to get clearance to play. He's ready, but I'm not sure how effective he can be. Maybe we can just have him smash Staal about 10 times!
frisky Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 If he (Mair) were to come back, I think his energy and enthusiasm would provide a spark even if he isn't quite back into game shape. And, if he isn't they could keep his ice time down to a number that would keep him effective. But I think he would be a good spark for the team.
