Bmwolf21 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 My wife & I just got our tix in Section 331, row M...meeting my brother, his fiancee and her parents for the game...looking forward to seeing some friendly faces in the crowd...Anyone else heading down there?
Dan Gross Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Are they letting anyone from Buffalo into North Carolina after what happened last weekend?
canes_lurker Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Are they letting anyone from Buffalo into North Carolina after what happened last weekend? Heh. The difference between Saturday's game and Monday's was significant. Of course, there were far, far fewer Sabres fans, but also probably triple the police presence. They didn't let anything get out of control. My advice? Enjoy yourself and cheer, but don't try running up to cars and hitting them (or pretending to hit them) as they arrive in the parking lot (someone missed the game over that one). And don't stand on the arm and back of your chair for any reason. The poor drunk slob featured in the "game 2 video recap" on this page (http://www.wral.com/sports/9262754/detail.html at about the 1:15 min mark) toppled over into the row in front and get escorted out by the Raleigh PD. :o

ThePebble19 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I'm really considering it...5 hours down, and 5 hours back...get a couple of tickets in the "cheap seats" and get out of there at about 100 bucks a person... It will be tempting if we are up 3-1 or tied at 2-2
Two or less Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I'll be there with 3 others... Section 312!! btw, the guy who says police didnt let things get out of control is an idiot. Game 2 had much more problems then Game 1... escept, this time the problems were outside the arena. Theres lots and lots of stories of there.

I was stunned. Fortunately it was by the area where the players leave the arena, so security was on the spot almost instantly. I guess it goes both ways! I hope we rock "your" house and cheer the Sabres on VERY loudly! Of course respectfully! All the Sabre fans in attendence should get a nice thank you from the 'Canes players should the Hurricanes get eliminated this round... You ask why? As posted before the players get a % of gate receipts for the round they get eliminated in as an added playoff bonus... Thank all those Sabre fans for supporting your team's players monetarily... Sorry, the dough couldn't come the 'Canes fans themselves!
Corp000085 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I will get a ticket if we're ahead in the series 3-1. if its 3-1 carolina or 2-2, i won't go.
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I will get a ticket if we're ahead in the series 3-1. if its 3-1 carolina or 2-2, i won't go. Ya... I understand... ;) ;) You never know what those "savage" Hurricanes fans might do in a "tight series" that goes 7! <_< <_<

I am pretty confident it will at least be 2-2, but I might be looking to dump the tix if we are down 3-1...I watched Washington skate around on our ice with the Eastern Conference Championship/Wales trophy a few years back and don't want to watch that again.
canes_lurker Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Oh no doubt there were some out of control Canes fans too. Can't excuse their behavior. Briere48, there were arrests on Monday, but there were far fewer issues on Monday, because there were about triple the amount of security and they didn't let anything get started at all. If you were there and have a different story to tell, I'd love to know. Saturday was a disaster (blame whoever you want - there's enough to go around), Monday a cakewalk in comparison.
Bmwolf21 Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 I hope Game 5 on Sunday will be OK too - all the problems I heard about made me think twice before actually deciding to buy the tickets. Me & my wife are coming up from Orlando for the game, and I have to work on Monday afteroon, so I'm doing a lot of driving with little rest to come to this game -- so naturally I'll be really pissed (and disappointed) if some drunk idiots (Cane or Sabre fans) ruin the trip for us.

I have four tickets, my son picked them up yesterday. We're in row L, might even be in your section. I'll have to ask him which section they are in. I'll be going with my son, his girlfriend and my dad.

Good for you! Now you see what the 'Canes establishment was trying to do by blowing this out of proportion? You almost cancelled attending the game... That would have been a victory for the snobby 'Canes fans. If I would have took all the stories seriously I heard over the years... I would have never stepped foot in the "Black Hole" (...Oakland Coliseum/McAvee... Not the actual endzone area they call the "Black Hole") or Pro-Player Stadium (Miami)... I found to have no problems or horror stories (well maybe... Some distant stories, but they always seemed to be isolated incidents that ended with no problem)... Here is a good story why the 'Canes fans were up set: The Empty Boat Suppose a boat is crossing a river and another boat, an empty one, is about to collide with it. Even an irritable man would not lose his temper. But suppose there was someone in the second boat. Then the occupant of the first would shout to him to keep clear. And if he did not hear the first time, nor even when called to three times, bad language would inevitably follow. In the first case there was no anger, in the second there was because in the first case the boat was empty, in the second it was occupied. And so it is with man. If he could only pass empty through life, who would be able to injure him? And so be it with 'Canes fans... No Sabre fans in their "house", no anger and no harping on the few bad apples... Nobody to injure their arrogance... They were trying to discourage Sabre fans from filling the void THEY created.

Twisted Wrister Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 6 of us are leaving Buffalo Saturday morning, Section 308, got some serious tailgating to do in the Hot sunshine!
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Darn, EII, you gettin' filosofikal on us. I like it. The pressure is getting to me Dave... I haven't felt like this since 1998 and 1999... It is probably why I don't get wrapped up in hockey as much... There has always been more of an emotional attachment (going back as a kid) to the Sabres... I just don't show it or I would literally quit functioning...  If there is one time that I want it this bad for these group of guys... It is now... I am happy with the now or whatever will be... But, boy I want it. I experienced it last year after following the Sox for 13 years (I know that is realtively a short time)... But, boy is it sweet!
Hirly5 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I got 4 tickets in Sec 317. I was in Sec 309 for Game 1. My voice is still hoarse from yelling but it should be all ready for Sundays game. On a side note: There was no trouble in my section between Sabres fans and Canes fans. The only thing I heard of was my roommate was in the bathroom and a fight broke out. That was it. I had pleasent conversations with Canes fans around me. I was inebriated but I didnt act a fool. I learned a long time ago not to swear and be beligerent around younger kids. I even took a picture of a father and a son who were Canes fans and emailed them the pic the other day. If it was rude yelling Let's Go Buffalo whenever I could then I guess I was rude.
Two or less Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 From reading every place i can and hearing people, seems like Game 5 will be very rowdy. Canes fans effed up in game 2, and made lots of people mad. I'm not saying me personally, i wasn't there, i will be there game 5 though and i hope both sides just cheer for their team and have a great night, but with the huge tailgates planned, and going to the bar before the tailgates, i doubt it... game 5 will be the worse of them all i think.

I saw you there, you barbarian. Cheering like an obnoxious fool. You were totally out of control, shaking peoples hands, laughing and smiling the whole day, and listening to Ric Jennerette's highlight reels. It's people like you that ruin the BBQ. I think I even saw you throw something on the ground. (and then pick it up and put it in the trash). Anyway, it was fun to meet you down there among all the carnage and horror that we somehow missed.

I hears what yur sayin'. The thing is, win or lose, it's been one heck of a run. I'm not ready to see it end yet, and I don't think it will. I'm trying to keep an even keel today, as it seems that whenever I'm too psyched for the game bad things happen. I am cautiously optimistic for tonight's game.
