inkman Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I really hope Connolly, Numminen, Mair and Kalinen get healthy soon. I know Lindy won't bench Ales or Max but lets get Rory, Janik and Vanek back on the bench. Yeah, yeah, Vanek scored a goal but all of the aforementioned guys are squeezing the stick too hard and are not playing well. Can we get Max off the PP? He is just not making good decisions and is playing scared. Fitzpatrick doesn't even seem to understand what the rest of the team is trying to do offensively and defensively. Please...
Kristian Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I gotta tell ya, I can't wait for Connolly to come back and Vanek for getting some splinters up his backside. That "goal" I attribute more to him being too lazy to get out of the way, than anything else. Alright, som I'm exaggarating, but you get the point. He doesn't just float on the backcheck anymore, now he even floats in the offensinve zone. I'm starting to think they'll need an excorsist, clearly Miro Satan has taken over his body! Excuse the pun. But yeah, there were a ton of no-shows last night. I liked Pyatt though, he played physcial like he's never done anything else. I hope this kid can keep maturing the way he has, if he can, watch out!

Pyatt was one of the bright spots last night. Their wasn't much else. Even Gaustad had a sub par performance. Outside of Greir and Pyatt did anyone want to play physical last night?
Bmwolf21 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 We had waaaay too many passengers last night, guys who thought they could throw their sticks on the ice & still skate away with a win. I thought Grier disappeared for huge stretches of the game, Hecht & Kotalik had an awful time just getting the puck past the Canes' D at our blueline, and Pominville & Gaustad were ineffective at best. Vanek continues to disappoint me - he had two shifts in the mid- to late-2nd where he seemed to control the puck and show signs of life, but then disappeared when crunch time rolls around. Maybe he needs a Rochester wake-up call to start next season...

I can't imagine this team laying down on wednesday. Game 3 will be good.
Bmwolf21 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Absolutely - I think this game will be a huge wake-up call for the entire team, and now we go home for two games with a fire under our butts, and can take a commanding lead in the series if we put in the effort.

You just can't have games in the playoffs where a lack of effort cost you the game. Very disappointing. GO SABRES!!
nfreeman Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I have also been pretty disappointed in Max and Kotalik, although I do think it's not for lack of trying. Neither of them is shying away from physical play. For whatever reason (maybe b/c we've been playing 2 of the best teams in the NHL in the past 2 rounds), both look totally ineffective on offense. However, put magic man Connolly between them and watch out. Holy cow I hope he can come back in this series. Go Sabres.

You just can't have games in the playoffs where a lack of effort cost you the game. Very disappointing. GO SABRES!! True, but I can't say I'm too disappointed with taking home-ice away from them. As I said in the prediction thread, it's a race to three with three at our barn. I like our chances, ESPECIALLY with the way the boys woke up in the 3rd and carried the play. Sure, winning game 2 would have been great, but Bflo, at least to my eyes, took momentum away from them late in the game. Now, the series returns to Bflo with both clubs knowing that the Sabres played terribly, the 'Canes can't play much better, and yet Bflo was still able to carry the play through the 3rd. I think of it like boxing and each game is a round. The Sabres took round 1 and although they lost round 2, they finished the round strong and clearly demonstrated that they can take Carolina's best haymaker and get up swinging. I can't wait for round 3. DING DING!
wjag Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Talk about disappearing Sabres last night, where o where was Dumont?
northersabre Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 You guys are all seeing this from a buffalo sabres Perspective. What if the canes say hey we played our game and we dominated. The Buffalo Sabres have now taken their foot The heads of Carolina and have allowed the Canes to gain some roar. Lets hope This loss didn't give Carolina the drivers seat because i am not sure we have the players to climb out of the lions den
