BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Luongo looks very sharp ... so does Miller, though ... Sabres score! Briere off a turnover... 1-0 ...
Strow Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 luongo is the best goalie in the game sabres better be shotting 40 times again tonight or that goal will be the last
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 Pretty even period after Florida dominated the forst 3 minutes or so ... always good to get the first goal on the road ... Miller looks VERY good so far ... 1-0 Sabres after one ...
GGM Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 These guys are so talented offensively. Obviously the PP needs work (although I have to feel as though that is a coaching issue after this many years,) and they could be better in terms of finishing, but they forecheck well and get gritty goals. I really think that this team is a a few defensemen away from being a conten-da right now.
Larry Playfair Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Too early to tell how good we really are. And if we continue winning, no doubt teams will start scouting our tendencies as more game film emerges re: how we are succeeding. I'm going with the cautiously optimistic (as opposed to my all in for the bills...um ...once again hoodwinked there) Very fun to follow them so far. Still waiting for Vanke's first, and for Connoly to finish a scoring chance for once.
Corp000085 Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 thanks for starting the game thread... i've been busy today!
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 1-1 ... no idea who scored because the florida announcers have been yapping with bettman the whole second period ... very annoying ...
GGM Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Horton heard a who and shoved some green eggs up our rear...
Larry Playfair Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Simon Gagne just scored his 7th goal this year for Philly - the guy is gonna have 1 heck of a year playing with Desjardins and Peter Forsberg. Flyers up 4-1 on Isles. Ottawa is working over the B's too.
Larry Playfair Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 1-1 ... no idea who scored because the florida announcers have been yapping with bettman the whole second period ... very annoying ... 07:12 Nathan Horton (3), Slap Shot - Assists: Rostislav Olesz and Mike Van Ryn
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 2-1 Florida ... screen shot ... Sabres are getting out worked right now other than the Briere line that had a good shift ...
Larry Playfair Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 (edited) oh s**t, deflection from the pt, miler was screened. down by 1. 12:50 Martin Gelinas, Slap Shot - Assist: Mike Van Ryn Edited October 16, 2005 by Knightrider
GGM Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Not the best period of the year for the Sabres...
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 2-1 after 2 ... bad period ... but they were down the other night ... gotta come out strong in the third.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 2-2 ... Briere again .. un-BEEEEE-lievable shift by that line ... Vanek especially ... Sabres just took a penalty though ....
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 Drury and Connolly both missed on point-blak chances off the rush ... at least Connolly hit the net ... Drury appeared to shoot it over the top without it being deflected ... looks like he is pressing, tryinig to make the perfect shot ...
GGM Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Drury and Connolly both missed on point-blak chances off the rush ... at least Connolly hit the net ... Drury appeared to shoot it over the top without it being deflected ... looks like he is pressing, tryinig to make the perfect shot ... I agree...Actually Connolly's shot was pretty nice. Luongo made a nice, low, short-side save.
GGM Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Sabres are hanging on, trying to get that road point. I don't hate the idea, seeing as how they seem to be a little flat tonight.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 definitely more up and down now ... they are giving up chances but getting plenty too, not like the second period ... the Connolly-kotalik-afinogenov line is playing well in the third...
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 BRUTAL goal my Miller ... Hecht will take the blame for the penalty, but Miller HAS to stop that ...
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 I am WAY more pissed about this loss than I am about even the shutout at Ottawa... they played a horrible second period, but they battled back in the 3rd and deserved a point in this game, especially on the road ... this one is on Miller, it's the exact thing Biron has done so many times, make all the tough saves and when the team really needs one he falls asleep. I like so much of what I have seen from Miller, but he needs to make that save ... OK I have vented ... it's out of my system ... now we'll see how he reacts ...
Peter Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 There is no way that Miller should have let that in. He left too much open and did not challenge the shooter at all. Tallender also did not challenge the shooter except for a half hearted attempt at a poke check. We should have at least had a point after this game.
