hopeleslyobvious Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 Looks like Buffalo won the face-offs 54-46%. I was talking about Carolina's PP, but yeah, they didn't exactly dominate the faceoff circle either.
Stoner Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Breakdown of faceoff stats: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20052006/FC030311.HTM Interesting numbers. Danny Briere, not noted for his faceoff prowess, won eight of 10 draws, including all three against Brind'Amour. In fact, although Drury struggled a bit against Brind'Amour, losing a key one very late, Roy, Gaustad and Briere teamed up to win 11 of 17 against Rod, who was 48% for the day. All in all, a very good day for the Sabres on faceoffs. They scored off a defensive zone faceoff win by Gaustad (opening goal by Tallinder).
Buffalo Tendencies Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Buffalo took the face-offs and PP too the Canes. Their too bigest advantage's. Buffalo did to Philly, and Ottawa. Ask Umberger how physical Philly played. Ask Alferson how fast Ottawa skates. Buffalo seems to be able to play the opponets style, better and then just shove it down thier thoats. Ha! It don't get any better than this boys. Relish! This team can do it all, as a team. Its unbelievable! I BELIEVE!! Go Sabres!
Stoner Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Bump and an update, as if anyone needs to be updated on the Canes' faceoff dominance in Game 2. They won 61% of the draws, but the stat is a little misleading. On offensive and defensive zone draws, the teams were about even. In the neutral zone, the Canes were amazing. Not to slight the importance of draws in the neutral zone... In the faceoff between Chris Drury and Rod Brind'Amour, it was a huge advantage for Face -- 68% (9 wins and 4 losses).
