That Aud Smell Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I don't keep up with C-suite titles. "Chief commercial officer" appears to be a new term for "chief business officer" or something like that. I presume that the new CCO will have all things business in their "portfolio." Quote

Ctaeth Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago talk about being set up to fail. my inner pessimist is wondering if this is guelli putting someone (besides himself) in charge of the sabres sales so that he doesn't have to take full responsibility for the upcoming bloodbath link describing the hire from nhl.com: https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/buffalo-sabres-name-jake-vernon-chief-commercial-officer 1 Quote

It also seems possible that they didn't ask for permission from the Flyers (and, thinking on it some more, maybe they didn't need to ("fair use")?). Quote
CallawaySabres Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Fantastic, because the commercials will certainly be more interesting than the games next year. 1 Quote
shrader Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Didn't they hire another executive in the last year or two from Minnesota... or somewhere else in the NBA? Quote
tom webster Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago This is a pretty significant hire for the business side of things. Quote

Same with the Labatt's Bear commercial where he's complaining the worst part about living in Canada is sleeping on hard rocks and then the hot brunette he's talking to says she's got a waterbed. "Check please." Spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find that one a few year's back. 1 2 Quote

I'm unsure what is going on with the current arena, but it desperately needs renovations and it's probably a multi-year process. I think hiring this guy is just so you have someone solely focused on the Sabres (tickets, stadium operations, renovations hopefully), since the Bills have the new stadium coming up and tons of new and more valuable business lines that likely come from that.
