For all things Stanley Cup Playoffs

Who will win it all? Will the leafs choke again? Does McDavid get his first cup? Will Ovechkin ride off into the sunset if he wins? Maybe the Jets finally win it all this year with the best goalie? All I know is it’s refreshing not to see Boston in the playoff bracket.

The playoffs get started tonight with Blues Vs Jets at 6pm then Avalanche at Stars at 8:30

Random thought - I miss the “History will be made” commercials.

If Dallas can get passed their nemisis Colorado I think they win it all but how cool would it be to not only have Ovechkin beat Gretzky's goal record but to win the Stanley Cup also?

Sorry, but I am not an Ovi fan and he already has his Cup. I can only get behind them if they were to face the Leafs.

Carolina over Vegas, blah.

Not sure I really care too much who wins, just no Toronto

I think Toronto has a good chance to make it to the finals. They are a different team this year. The goaltending and defense are so much better than last year. They have enough firepower up front that they can't all be stopped.

Winnipeg, the last favorite place to play in the NHL (so said the survey, not me) will win the Cup and everyone will be left with an existential crisis.  How did a team with high taxes, no palm trees, and the team that no player wants to be traded to not only win the Cup but become Canada's shining star of redemption?

I think many are sleeping on Florida. They got healthy & Marchant love him or hate em gives them another nasty playoff proven performer.

Playoff hockey. So good.

Watching this Blues Winnipeg game and thinking how both of these teams are constructed so much better than the Sabres and how this current Sabres roster would not survive this type of play. Anyone watching this should realize just how far away the Sabres really are.

Like Bieksa called it, big boy hockey. Some could handle it but Quinn, Bryson and Power would fold like cheap lawn chairs.

They’re definitely under the radar going into the playoffs kind of limped in a little bit. But a team that experienced and good could easily come back to form once playoff hockey begins for them.

I can never get there because we have no proof that they wouldn't step up like most teams in the playoffs. It's Schroder's Cat

How was it NOT a distinct kicking motion?  Even if he and the puck were both airborne he kicked, hit the puck with his skate and it went in the net.

I think it was an optical illusion lol, his leg was thrust forward mid hit. I don't know if he could control that with the way he was getting knocked down honestly.

No I disagree. It's easy to tell. You see games during the year where they step up or get physical. There are moments and flashes. I honestly haven't see that from the Sabres at all in the last 14 years or more. Sure, there are a couple guys who might try but for most of them it's just not their DNA.

This team so desperately needs to get into the playoffs so that we learn which guys can step up and which ones can't (there are always surprises both ways). Maybe Samuelsson snaps and the light bulb goes on and realizes it's fun to scrum.... maybe Benson disappears once he starts getting really run. (I don't think Benson ever fades, though.)

But it's important for them to get there so that they understand the intensity and ferocity and get comfortable with it. That way, when Tampa and Florida rachet up their play for one period in December after falling behind 2-0 on a flukey goal, you raise your game too and keep them down 2-0, rather than folding and losing 5-3.

And no Olympics, Worlds, or regular season game will prepare them for it. And any intense games they had in the AHL, or CHL, or overseas pales in comparison, or was years ago in their lives.
