I’ve stated it here many times but I don’t like Bryson so it baffles me that he had to be signed so early. He’s a JAG and it’s not like RyJo can’t do a similar job.

You have the whole summer to upgrade 2 to 3 Dmen and you commit to Bryson.

Adams is very insecure imho, and extra sensitive to criticism about not doing enough. This move and his ridiculous justification of it, is the end result.

A tale as old as time: starting the year with UPL and Levi yet  again and thinking the results will somehow be different this time.

PLEASE remove Adam’s ASAP. He was incompetent the day he was hired he is incompetent 5 years later.

I finally watched the news conference.  Adams thinks Byram had a good season and he's taking Power's input on how to get him a partner.

Adams said he needs self reflection.

OK Kev, here is some things to ruminate over.

1) You haven't found adequate partners for your two "Top" D ever.  Dahlin has never had a good partner and Power still hasn't had one in his 3 years.

2) The defensive skills of your defense 5 years into your reign of incompetence are the worst in the NHL yet you keep the same players and the same assistant coaches.  The only additions have been 3rd pair or scrap heap players like Clifton, Stillman, Lyubushkin, E Johnson, Pysyk, Hagg, and Butcher.  The lone exception was Byram and you admit you had no idea what to do with him (as he has redundant skill set and also can't play defense).

3) Since Ullmark left your goaltending has been awful except a 30 game flurry by UPL and some periods of mediocrity from aging players like Reimer and Anderson.  Remember outside of last season, UPL has never had a good pro season.

4) Your special teams have been awful since you became GM.

Maybe just maybe Kev you are the problem.  Fall on your sword and give someone else a chance.

(At least Ruff seems to know that the defenders he was given have no clue how to play defense.)

Changes are expected to the coaching and support staffs, as well as the hockey operations department, two sources familiar with the situation who spoke to The News on the condition as to protect their standing in the organization.

Does hockey opps include GM?

The media people were way too nice with Adams. The situation called for Brooksie and Torts and only Fairburn brought any heat.

Fairburn has been a revelation for me. I can't say he was ever on my radar. He and Baker had such a refeshingly honest and insightful conversation after the presser. I've consumed so much Duff and Biron, it was like eating real strawberries after eating only that dried junk they put in Special K.

How can they say "they'll look at every single thing they can and do whatever it takes to get better and improve" when they won't even spend to the salary cap?

Sounds like a bunch of BS.

Looking is easy, doing is hard.

I was bored today so I wasted time listening to the whole thing. They are definitely clueless and delusional. If these clowns don't get fired and get to come back and "be better" next year it's obvious they will fail. They both think the team is far closer than it is. They both seem to believe in what they have and it'll be the same guys with only minor roster changes, and it'll be UPL and Levi and good luck with all that.

I mean really, how do you have the audacity to say "that's what happens with young goaltenders" and not stop to think if you knew that (which you should have) why the F did you not get a solid veteran to pair him with in a tandem? He says he's "honest" and then he feeds us crap like that. Talk about creating a self fulfilling prophecy. F'n idiots.

Yes, it is a bunch of BS!!!  I think we've heard this exact message from the liar GMKA for the last 2, if not 3 years.  He's a liar and he thinks we're stupid that fans will keep believing him.

And the weird thing is... they had the veteran average-but-stable goalie this year. Reimer ended with .899 with the Sabres this year, the same as MA Fleury with the Wild. MAF played in 26 games with 22 starts at age 40. With those numbers, Fleury ended the season 14-9-1. Better team defense around him, yes. But .900 is average. The Sabres had exactly what they needed behind a young starter.

Then they did two things:

1) Adams waived him, sacrificing 6 starts to two young goalies behind a shaky/learning defensive team.

2) Ruff didn't play him. I won't count November because they didn't get him back until later in the month. But Reimer had two starts in December and two more in January. That's it. Two starts in February, but it had the tournament break. Spread out the starts, don't waive him, and give him 30 starts to UPL's 52 and maybe keep the young guy sharper and structured.*

This season, they had the right plan and then Adams and Ruff both cast it aside to the detriment of the team.

*And before anyone yells that he stinks, in his November-January starts, Reimer was solid. 5 GA in a SO loss to Detroit was the poor game, and he got road starts at Vegas and at Edmonton in which he gave up 3 on 30 shots -- which is fine. Everything else was 2 GA or fewer -- enough to win.

News today?

The NFL Draft is Thursday. Three days of ESPN and NFL glitz and glitter, complete with over-analysis of 4 round picks, second guesses on prime picks, and excessive media coverage. Not to mention "Draft Grades" for each of the 3 days.

Terry is going to play the Football Expert with Brandon Beane and Co this week.   McD and Beane will humor him in the draft room, and then do what they think is best.

Unless Terry makes a move in the next day or two, the big news from him will most likely be next week.

Baker/Fairburn didn't think anything would happen before the draft.  They also made a good point. Pegula is going to spend several days with Beane/McDermott watching how an elite level NFL executive/coach manage the draft.  Then he is going to meet with Adams to hear about how it all went wrong and how Adams is going to fix it in year 6.  The contrast should be stark and obvious.

The contrast has been stark and obvious for a long time.  Hope Terry can see it this time.  More importantly, lets hope he does something.

As I told my son who repeated this to me.

What would be the benefit of Ruff and Adams saying "UPL?  nah, he's broke. We can't make him better."  It sure would eliminate pretty much any possibility of a trade. Better to instead put the onus on the defense in front of UPL and insinuate that UPL could be better if he was in a different system.

Also.. it's all media speak, 95%-100% BS.
