No. Casey Nelson. Will Butcher. 

Bryson can be a #7 on a good d-corps, where he'll always have a go-to guy as a partner. The Sabres are not a good d-corps because they are missing a couple key roles. But for them, he can be the #8. You want to keep him under 30 games a season barring massive injuries.

 

I'd rather have Fedun, Pysyk, or Hagg ahead of him though, depending on the other guys in the lineup.

I'm going back and forth on both of them in my mind....but right now, this very moment, I might rather have Samuelsson as a 3rd pair guy with him on the PK all the time....rather than having Byram getting paid more in a new contract being a 1st/2nd pair guy.  If I had to choose between those 2 choices.

I think Byram, who posted a 7g, 31a campaign, is only turning 24, and will be an RFA with value to other teams. He plays the left which is what everyone else on the Sabres plays and also what Novikov and Johnson play. And what Gavrikov plays. What i am saying is that I think you could trade Byram in a deal for a RHD that gives us more of what we need.

I didn't see this coming already but I just want to say I am already on record as being the first to predict that next season's excuse for missing will be injuries. It's almost certain now.

Treat Norris as the 13th forward and Power is the 7th D.  When they return, you can push lesser players into those spots.

My own personal blind spot lies in the fact that none of the players (Maybe Bryson? and 24-25 Quinn - and maybe Laffer?), taken in a vacuum don't have a place on a playoff team. Playoff teams are not some magical top-to-bottom McDavid clones. All playoff teams have role players. Evan freaking Rodriguez did just fine for FL.

The problem with the Sabres, as Mr. Thorny, PhD has pointed out repeatedly is that the construction of this roster forces those players into situations that they would not face on a playoff team. 

Make the upgrades with vengeance and a cold, calculated malice, Mr. GM Howdy Doody!

Interesting way to think about it.  Of course , they are still bound by a salary cap that included $9mill for Norris, $8m for Power.

Then this is likely an MCL injury.  
 

Most anything other than the ACL tear is good news.  
 

They’ll get him “off season strong” and won’t rush him as long as he can start dead lifting his freaking weight - which half the team needs to do

Brutal news on Power. He REALLY had work to do this summer and sounds like that's all on pause.

Acquiring another strong defending top 2 pairing defenseman is even more critical now. I have zero faith in Adams's ability to do it.
