zow2 Posted Wednesday at 02:15 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:15 AM Reimer will be a hot goalie signing for someone, we will be stuck with UPL. Who will never lead this team to the playoffs. Quote
Bangarang Posted Wednesday at 02:53 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:53 AM Dumping Cozens and Joki was a start. Now Adams needs to flip Samuelson and Byram and hopefully fix the goalie situation. Simply running back the exact same team and using this late stretch as proof is a recipe for disaster. 1 2 Quote
CallawaySabres Posted Wednesday at 03:05 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:05 AM They absolutely have to buy UPL out. He is one of the worst backup goaltenders in the league, and our idiot GM signed him to a five-year deal. Out of all the dumbest things that he has done, this might top them all. 1 1 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted Wednesday at 03:19 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:19 AM You have to realize that despite all these wins we are still 11 points out of the playoffs which is basically where we were a month ago or so. This has been over for ages. 2 1 1 Quote

UPL is not the problem. From Dec. 30 until the end of the last season, he registered a 21-14-2 mark with a 2.30 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage and four shutouts in 37 games. Just like when the board was screaming to get rid of Linus, and I was trying to say he was a good goalie on a bad team. It’s the same with UPL. I feel like part of this is Sabres fans that got spoiled with Hasek. He stole games and got teams into the playoffs that shouldn’t have been there. Hasek was a unicorn. UPL and Linus are not Hasek. Nobody ever will be. UPL is a good goalie - fix the leadership and improve the rest of the roster. 1 1 1 Quote
SabreFinn Posted Wednesday at 03:55 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:55 AM You can't have a loosing streak like that and make the playoffs. It has been over for months already. Someone probably has done that too, but it wasn't the youngest team in the league. 1 Quote

Last year, he was much more positionally sound and let the puck find his massive frame. This year, he was constantly overcommitting and sliding himself out of position. His skaters didn't do him any favors, but he was a significant contributor to their failed season. Speaking of failed seasons, Adams managed all this with $8.246 million to spare under the cap in an "all-in" season. Hope they can roll those savings over to next season like in the NFL and don't have issues getting all those RFAs re-signed. Quote
