Bangarang Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Like rewarding the kid but putting him with Laff and Malenstyn is pointless. Quote

I haven’t been too critical of Lindy as I felt most of this season’s issues were on the players / crappy asst coaches but this is just inexcusable. Quote
LGR4GM Posted 11 hours ago Author Report Posted 11 hours ago BTW, I think Östlund can play that 4th line role just fine but why even make him? 2 Quote

JP51 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago So I dont want to over think this... and I get everyones point... but for where I am at and what I would like to see... Nothing wrong with rewarding a player in the AHL with some showtime... nice little 3 or 4 game stint rotate him thru 4th line, Power Play 2nd line etc... to give him some insight on what he needs to do to develop and build an offseason plan for him.... I do not want him to finish the season here, I think its too early and he is better with a playoff run in the AHL... with respect to feelings of players on the team... I get it... but if you are scoring less than 10-15 goals a season on a team that has been last in the conference and hasnt made the playoffs in 14 years and are upset by this... get a thicker skin or play better.... But yes give the kid a couple games of experience in multiple situations and grow him for next year... that I am fine with. 1 Quote
kas23 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago I approve. He has earned this. It should be a message sent to all players. You do well, you get rewarded. 1 Quote

dudacek Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago (edited) To be clear, this isn’t really a “look” or a “reward”. This is more a “our 2C and our 6C are hurt and our best centre is playing wing to support the look we’re already giving our best centre prospect, who’s next man up?” Edited 11 hours ago by dudacek Quote
pastajoe Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago I don’t like it. The Amerks have 2 games this weekend as they’re trying to catch Laval for 1st place and need their top players. The Sabres aren’t going anywhere and could have either moved Tage to center and pushed Krebs down to the 4th line, or call up Dunne again. Let the kids cook in Rochester. Quote
dudacek Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Leone (to Duff and Marty) is of the opinion Östlund has a skill set that allows him to slot in on any style of line. Called him a bit of a unicorn that way. He has the energy, fearlessness and defensive acumen to play effectively with Lafferty and Malenstyn. Quote

Carmel Corn Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Too soon for sure….but I do believe this kid is the only legit center prospect we have. He’s not a winger pretending or being forced to play center, but an actual playmaker IMHO. Quote
Ogelthorpe Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago If he does not play in the top 9 it is a stupid move. Having Rosen on 4th line is stupid also. 1 Quote

Stick him between Tage and Tuch and let’s see what this kid has. What’s the worst thing that could happen? They lose because he’s inexperienced and isn’t ready for the league? Who cares? He’s overwhelmed and it stunts his development? It’s possible but sometimes you have to see if he can sink or swim. This is just proving if he is allergic to water. Quote

HumanSlinky39 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago So you bring up a young playmaking C and stick him on the 4th line w/Malenstyn and Lafferty? Quote

Too soon because...? 2022 draft 11 Conor Geekie 49 games played 12 Denton Mateychuk 37 13 Frank Nazar 49 14 Rutger McGroarty 5 15 Jonathan Lekkerimaki 23 16 Noah Östlund 0 17 Joakim Kemmel 2 18 Lian Bichsel 32 19 Liam Ohgren 28 20 Ivan Misochenchenko 39 First round picks are usually getting a taste of the NHL in their D3 year. Östlund is literally one of 6 in his class who have not. For the record, I would like to see him on one of the top lines with Kulich sliding out of the top 9. Edited 7 hours ago by dudacek 1 Quote
