How many goals would UPL have let in if he were in net?

Several. Reimer had some really big saves that UPL hasn't been making.

Gotta love Cozens going oh for 2 against the club he stopped playing hard for. And another mjnus night (-4 this game)

Β

Too bad we can’t play Ottawa every game. And too bad Ruff didn’t give Reimer the reigns 15 games ago.

The problem with the Sabres is the season just isn’t long enough. Make it a month longer and we’d be in the playoffs.Β

Seems to be a running trend, they take 50 to 60 games to get going and then they actually start playing. Now partly it’s the less stressful playing out the string but they did this during the year they barely fell short.Β

The Habs went to a Stanley Cup Final, did a ground up rebuild and look like they may be back in the playoffs all in just 5 yearsΒ

Here we sit in year 14.

Reimer is clearly the first star in this game. When watching this game you get the "what if" sensation if only we had this caliber of goaltending all year long. What was impressive about his play beyond his impressive stops was that the economy of movement even when Ottawa had a number of good chances. UPL has something to learn when watching Reimer play.Β

The most impressive play may have been the pass from Tage to JJP who passed it back to Tage for the score. Tick-tack-toe play.Β

The play that encouraged me the most was Quinn battling on the back boards to get the puck, then passing it to Dahlin for the score. There is no question that Quinn is belatedly stepping up his game.Β

Krebs is playing well and hard. He needs to shoot more.Β

In this game, even when Ottawa had the puck in the Buffalo zone, the Sabres never panicked. They kept after it all along. This was a game where the Sabres played hard throughout. I can't recall any lulls.Β

Kulich made a couple of impressive plays by putting on the jets to get to the back with a defender on him and then getting off a quick and hard shot. We really need Quinn, JJP and Kulich to continue to develop. It's clear all three have offensive talent.Β

The Sabres have won 5 out of the last 6 games. Many of those games were against playoff teams and team fighting for a playoff spot. So they should be given credit for that.Β

Again, what a difference when you have good goaltending. I'm starting to feel a lot more positive about this team. Next year, Norris and Greenway will be back. Starting to have depth where players will be competing for jobs and playing time.Β

Good evening Teammates, I am on travel but caught some live snippets and the recap. Β Swept the Sens. Β
Β

Nice W. Β Reimer was great and Linus was not. Β Tage with 39, Tuch with 32, and McLoed with 19! Β Nice game by Dahlin too.Β
Β

Keep it going. Β

Reimer’s β€œeconomy of movement” is something I’ve noticed too. Definitely a veteran goaltender trait. Since we have low confidence (or should) in our starting goalie options, might be a good idea to have him next year. A reliable backup is kind of important for our situation.

If the GM gambles on having UPL being the #1 goalie, he is making a big gamble. I just wish Reimer was a few years younger where it would be more likely for him to handle a heavy-duty load of a #1 goalie.Β

Seems the new team boost has worn off of Cozens. He processes the game so slow.

Yeah, he looked like the same guy that wore blue and gold. Maybe this is just who he is. Unfortunate, I really liked him and he seems like a great kid; but there's something really lacking in his game.
