I like Cozens and I had way too high expectations for him as a Sabre, but I chalk this up to the post-trade bump. He is scoring points, and that's good for him and the Sens. However, the player I saw in first 20 minutes of the Sens/Avalanche game last night was the same Cozens I saw in Buffalo. Good at transitioning the puck. 1 turnover inside his own blue line instead of just skating it out. 1 letting Makar walk into the slot for a PPG. 1 bad penalty taken trying to be physical (also led to a goal). The Sabres game had started so I didn't see it, but his goal was on the powerplay with 10 minutes remaining in the game... trailing by 5. 17 of those hits came in the first two games post-trade at home where the statistician was crediting Cozens with a hit for breathing on someone. His maximum hits in a game since is 3. Quote

I believe this drought goes closer to 20 years than 14. I don't agree with this statement. I'm sure he sees a problem. But his solution is not your solution. I don't think Adams is necessarily safe. I don't believe the Cozens trade and the Zucker and Greenway signings would prevent a change. But I do think Terry is not eager to blow things up because of the endless loop of failures. I think the biggest issue is the mindset in the locker room. It's the only way to explain how nothing changes despite the turnover and in players and coaches. Players arrive in Buffalo and pick up on a vibe that losing is what we do and that it's accepted and tolerated. As a result players don't give full effort, don't fully engage mentally, and generally get comfortable with losing. Players may want to get out of Buffalo because they are sick of losing, but they are the losers! They themselves are the problem! It's in their power to win, but they don't. Frankly I'm disappointed in Lindy Ruff. For this team, Thompson in particular, to not be aware of a delayed penalty call and not instantly know you stop the clock in inexcusable. The fact this has happened twice within weeks is doubly so. I would have taken the Sabres back to the Olympic Oval and bag skated them into oblivion. They all need a swift kick in the butt. Yes, I fear that Norris, while a talented player, is going to have low reliability and low availability given his past. The defenseman we acquired still hasn't played, don't understand why. And somehow we still had to throw in a #2 in a strong draft year. The fact that Pegula lets Adams make trades means Adams is coming back. I hate it, but I think Adams and Ruff are both coming back. thewookie1 Posted Friday at 07:02 PM Report Posted Friday at 07:02 PM Apparently Tage didn't know there was a delayed call. The call was made by the ref who was behind him so that does make some sense; may also explain Dahlin moving towards him. He probably was trying to tell Tage about the delayed call and Thompson played it as a regular 6v5 situation. Quote

All The Sabres needed to do it put a shot on net or pass the puck to a Ute. This is simple stuff, this happened just a few games ago and they blew a chance at 6 on 3. They learned nothing from it. They never seem to learn. Quote

I love Rob Ray, but he ain't exactly spending his free time digesting "Ulysses" and even HE was screaming "GIVE UP THE PUCK." That was basic hockey stuff. And nobody did anything. Scoring on ourselves was just the icing on the stupid cake. I'm still stunned...and I don't know how that's even possible at this point. Edited Friday at 07:31 PM by HumanSlinky39 Quote

Never seen a team score on themselves when they pulled their goalie. I laughed about it as a possibility, I made "what if" jokes about it, but I actually never saw it happen. Only the Sabres playing in Utah if all places. I am glad Terry and Kevin got to see it too. 1 Quote

It's possible, but it also has to do with his linemates and being dragged into the fight by the team around him rather than being expected to lead some rookies. Batherson has been very good playing with him. They played together at the Worlds, they bonded instantly. Cozens is living in his house even. Instant chemistry and a veteran grinder in Perron on the other wing. How you use a player and how you construct your roster matters, that's the real lesson. This happens with almost everyone who leaves here. other teams recognize their strengths and weaknesses and surround them with what they need. Jokiharju in Boston is saying Zadorov is the best partner he's ever played with. A big solid tough D man paired with a puck mover what a radical concept 🙂 2 hours ago, ... said: I have been warned and suspended for posts and images far, far, far, far less provocative than that. Perron is a 20 year vet with over 300 goals, I think he can help Cozens settle in and get over his jitters, or whatever he had in Buffalo. Jokiharju said that? interesting comments since he played with Power a lot and with Dahlin some. You are right on the benefit of complimentary pairings. I have been waiting for Dumbo Adams to find a solid RHD to pair with Power and get the kid some support. Edited yesterday at 12:53 AM by Pimlach 1 Quote
gomper Posted Friday at 11:01 PM Report Posted Friday at 11:01 PM So, if I'm reading the box score correctly, Stanlund, who the penalty was on, got credited for the en goal. Unreal. You can't make this up. 1 Quote

The best Sabres players may be great skilled players, they lack situational awareness and hockey IQ. I don’t give a damn that they are still young, most have been a in the league for years and should have the brains by now. This is what’s you get when you don’t have a well rounded team if youth and veterans. The veterans are there to team the kids what they learned over the years. Most of these players never had that. for the fans who were all in on the youth movement, reap what you sowed and enjoy your hockey team at its finest because tits not getting any better. if the Sabres weren’t the biggest laughing stock of the league before, they are now. Especially their BEST players Thompson and Dahlin Edited 16 hours ago by Sidc3000 Quote
