Mr. Allen Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 (edited) I gotta be honest, I’m a little torn on how I want the rest of the season to play out. I swore I would never root for the Sabres to lose again after the McDavid tank year. Tanking like that set the franchise back years. But at the same time I think we are desperate for an offensive stud like the one we could possibly get in the top 3-5. Plus if we continue to play the way we are maybe we’ll finally get that upstairs reset and get that new POHO, GM and Coach. I personally think these kids learning to play together and learning to win together is more important than any rookie we could get in this draft. I just don’t want to see us play great again at the end of the year, end up with the 8th pick (a small skilled forward) and then start next year like every other year. So I’m going to stay optimistic and hope this team plays great the rest of the season and learns how to consistently win together. Draft pick be darned. Edited March 19 by Mr. Allen Quote

We don’t need another top two pick that will take years to mature with intermittent flashes of brilliance. We need a mid to late twenties top six center and top four veteran physical defenseman. We need to get older and more experienced. 1 2 Quote

This team mostly serves up disappointment, anger, embarrassment, and frustration. You'd think out of mere chance, you'd stumble on some dumb luck. 1 Quote
jad1 Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Just fire the GM and pray to the hockey gods that Pegula gets lucky with his next hire. Quote
mjd1001 Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 (edited) Providing they don't do the near-impossible and make the playoffs...... The team plays well, about .500 hockey while outscoring their opponents along the way. They would be even better except for a few awful calls by the refs and some minor injury issues along the way, but the team looks really good and plays well overall. But, Nashville, Seattle, Philly and Pittsburgh play just well enough that the Sabres finishin 3rd last, assuring them of a top 4 pick. Tuch gets to 30. Tage gets to 45, maybe gets hot and has a look at 50. Edited March 18 by mjd1001 1 Quote
GoPuckYourself Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 (edited) Plain and simple we need top tier talent and we aren’t getting that by any way other than the draft or through trades. Edited March 18 by GoPuckYourself Quote

Thorner Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 (edited) Like if the cutoff drops to 86 today, it wouldn’t take a miracle for it to be 84 at the end. The Sabres going 12-4 isn’t near-impossible. Like we are still in “very unlikely” territory but it’s not out of reach the playoffs are coming TO us, it’s so funny we likely don’t grab them this year Edited March 19 by Thorner 1 Quote
MattPie Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 Hoping no one gets hurt so the new GM has the full list of assets to bargain with. Quote

Pimlach Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 I just don't see a housecleaning, I think Adams and Ruff will play out their contracts in a prove it year. I want to start winning more games and to continue to play like a real hockey team. The lure of a top 4 pick is there but I have had enough of that, if it happens it happens. 1 Quote

Yeah, i'm not really about chasing lottery picks this year. I'm not saying trade a top 5 pick either - even in weaker drafts this is the best position to finding star players. Trading a top 5 pick when you aren't close to anything resembling playoff hockey, is a bit too short-sighted even at this stage of team construction. I'd like to see more of a commitment to team defense. Making things more difficult for our opponents between the blue lines, and in the high slot. 1 Quote
LGR4GM Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 I hope Benson goes on a pts streak so I don't have to hear anymore nonsense that he's somehow not ready or good enough or whatever else. Give me 15pts to close the season Benny boy. 1 Quote
WhenWillItEnd66 Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 I just want to kids to improve and grow up and to keep consistently playing like they have the last few games. It is in them to do it, now do it for 60 every game and we will make the playoffs next year!! Still need a defensive dman and some more vets.... Quote
