PerreaultForever Posted yesterday at 03:31 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:31 AM The D is so damn lazy. Just pathetic. I was thinking tonight if Torts was the coach he'd bench all 6 of them. Powerless and Donkey (a new and more appropriate name for Muel) being the worst. I literally laughed out loud when all the rough stuff was happening and the only Sabre standing there doing nothing was Donkey. The D is pathetic. Thanks Kevyn. Thanks Terry. Now I just watch the rest of the season to wait for when Lindy's head actually explodes. Quote

Something around 20th in even strength differential. Ya they are good when you break it down FURTHER to just 5 V 5 AND just goals for but that’s sort of the rub, innit we can call it breaking it down but what it actually is is bias Edited yesterday at 03:34 AM by Thorner 1 Quote
Indabuff Posted yesterday at 04:29 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:29 AM I'm done with these ***** this season, maybe longer. I'd rather watch The 700 Club than these clowns. 1 Quote
JohninMinn. Posted yesterday at 07:03 AM Report Posted yesterday at 07:03 AM Kane adds so much irony to the story. The kid from South Buffalo who went on to be one of the best Americans ever to play in the NHL and we couldn't get him. Hurts almost as much as our Super Bowl futility. 1 Quote
OverPowerYou Posted yesterday at 08:32 AM Report Posted yesterday at 08:32 AM Everyone loves Dahlin but the box scores of most of these games tell me our defense is bad. Why doesn’t he raise the game of the other defensemen if he’s such a great captain? 1 Quote

Weave Posted yesterday at 09:02 AM Report Posted yesterday at 09:02 AM From Bluesky: If you buyout Mattias Samuelsson this offseason, it’s $714k per year for 10 years. If you wait a year, it becomes $1.4M per year for 8 years. This should be an easy decision. Someday i will figure out how to embed a bluesky post. Quote
SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted yesterday at 09:33 AM Report Posted yesterday at 09:33 AM Anyone else notice how Greenway didn’t even acknowledge Bryson when he was walking past him to the dressing room after his misconduct? I read this as Bryson is definitely not invited back next season (thankfully) Quote

But if a buyout is on the table, would it not be better to see if he is tradable with retention. If we retain $800k, it gets his salary under $3.5 million and we are only on the hook for 5 years. It eats up a retention spot for 5 years, but then, that’s what retention spots are for. It was t that long ago that he was a well regarded young player. I do t think a trade is ridiculous. Samuelsson has become a lightning rod. I think all teams have guys who are not that interested in the scrums. If we were winning, and if he was playing better, I don’t think it would be a big deal that he doesn’t engage in the after whistle stuff. I think he is a victim of the same things that all our players are victims of. Our GM has just assembled pieces. Adams hasn’t put any thought into how the pieces fit together. None of our d-men have ever been provided with a partner who was specifically identified as the right fit for them. Quote

You're telling me Adams couldn't sell him on joining here? The guy who takes a year to close a single trade deal couldn't seal the deal with a HOF'er? As much as Sabres twitter loves to rag on Kane and his poor analytics...I truly think he could've been a huge help to this team over the years. A guy with high IQ, clutch ability and PP prowess is precisely what they've needed for years. Our group just cannot get that key PP goal in close games and tend to panic at the end of games trying to tie it up. The broadcast yesterday showed it very well how Kane is calm and processes the game in a way that allows him to score in key moments. He might be the ultimate Sabre killer and it's a sad chapter in the Sabres drought. He probably would've come here with a competent, veteran GM and President of Hockey Ops in place. But, can you imagine a Hall of Famer having a chat with Adams and feeling like it's a smart career move? 1 Quote

Tage is fighting which no wants to see, and Benson is fighting, and our big stay at home defender is taking tickets in the crowd. If he played defense like Bill Hajt (a guy that didn’t fight but still played physical, smart, and strong) I wouldn’t care as much but he doesn’t. In today’s league you don’t have to fight, you just have to get involved and support the guys on the ice. Tuch isn’t a fighter but he took on Rasmussen (6’6” 225 lbs) after he blew up Bryson. Tuch also fought a Tkachuk. The guy is always for his teammates. He remembers the team meetings after the Tage incident. Donkey is still not getting it and never will. 1 Quote

SwampD Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Power got pwned on that 4th goal. That was goalie interference, but I’m glad they let the goal stand. Power needs to learn from it. Quote

We're a fake franchise run by an idiot who has a yes man goober for gm. This board could run the team better, which is sad. Ruff is back for the same reason as Nolan was brought back. Feel Good nastalgia for the ticket buying fans to buy them more time. Bring back a guy who fans loved and was one of teh most successful at his job during his time here to give the fans hope that maybe things will change while they try and figure out how to fix things. Making Ruff bring back the assisstants was to save money and only sets him up for failure. Making no big moves to try and improve the team in the offseason also only sets him up for Failure. Might as well start another rebuild because this isn't going to be a 'Quick fix' offseason where they can make a few moves or sign a few players and they are in the playoffs. This isn't a FA destination anymore and the pipeline/prospects aren't as good that bringing them up is going to change this team for the better Quote

Yes, he's next on the list of guys that NEED to be gone this offseason. There's no doubt about it to me...he can't be relied on and just plays too casual a game. It's too bad because he looked so promising in his rookie season. His game changed since then. I remember him eliminating guys frequently either with a strong stick or along the boards. He's never going to be a punishing hitter but he effectively eliminated his side of the ice and then the bottom just fell out. He does none of these things well anymore. Is it the injuries? Coaching? Comfort after getting a large contract? It's just another in the long line of issues on this team. Giving all these guys long-terms deals after proving very little looks to be a huge blunder for Adams. Samuelsson in retrospect was never a great deal. Giving him around $5M was painting nearly a best case scenario for what he'd turn into. Maybe you saved your self ~$1M per year if he turned into a true top pair shutdown guy. The same goes for the Power deal. His deal still has potential to be "okay" but it seems like Adams got cocky after the Tage contract and thought it'd work for all these guys and that they'd all hit their top potential. It'll likely be his undoing. From here on out, I'd avoid paying any of these guys until they prove they can get this team into the playoffs and actually perform under pressure. A lot of these contracts were based on a team that had no expectations or pressure to speak of. You can tell how the games have changed for these guys with actual expectations put on them. 1 Quote
