A stat I heard today that I think goes against the conventional wisdom of the importance of the later rounds.

 

from 2021 till 2023, out of the 685 players drafted after the first round, only 20 have made a pro bowl.

 

During that same time, 25 of the 95 players drafted in the first round have made at least one pro bowl.

It may be a long shot to get a pro bowler but they need to fill holes.  Bishop and Carter last year should have been those guys.  Maybe they’ll pop this season.  The Bills may need them to.  The Bills have been resourceful finding guys in the mid rounds they can plug in situationally.  They’ll probably need some D line production from whoever they take today.

Agreed. Just can’t see Beane making 10 picks. At worst he may try to move one or two later picks tomorrow for a +1 round ‘26 pick.

Interesting, certainly the impact players tend to be first rounders but every round can uncover a Hall of Fame player.  Tom Brady was a 6th rounder

Lots of excellent players that are starters, or play a lot of situational reps, don’t make a pro bowl.

Terrible trade, for a guy overwhelmingly projected to go mid 3rd. Why on earth would you give up 2 late 2nd round assets? We have three 5h rounders and two 6ths we could have moved up the board multiple moves. And the player selected isn’t even considered beyond a 1 technique player? WTF? Make it make sense.

You're only moving back 10 spots to move up 15 with those 2nd round picks.

I’m in a group chat where right after the Bills made that trade, someone joked that they were trading up to take Sanders. It’s funny how that worked out.
