Wyldnwoody44 Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Ovechkin has 32 goals in 46 games played this season and with his last goal against the Rags he sits at 885. He is 9 shy of tying the record and 10 goals from breaking it. This is absolutley hockey history and I believe he should have his own thread here for it. Hell, our team is crap anyways, so let's follow something exciting. Post updates, stats, opinions, etc here and use this as a thread as I do believe it will happen this season. Please keep politics out of this for the love of God. Spasibo 2 Quote
RangerDave Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 I admire his abilities and his goal production, especially at his age. I still think he is a thug. And, at least early in his career, I despised that he felt he could hit anybody, but took umbrage if someone tried to hit him. That said, I won't root for him to beat Gretzky's record, but will applaud him if he does. Quote
Brawndo Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Washington plays the Sabres on March 30th, the only question, who is in net UPL or Reimer when he breaks the record? 3 Quote
oddoublee Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Ovechkin is amazing. The amount of goals he scored in this era is mind boggling. The way he plays is fun as hell to top it off. I'm rooting for him. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Best pure goal scorer of his era. There may have been better, but the league was different in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. Mike Bossy probably would be at 1,000 if he played now and for 20 years like Ovi. 1 Quote
GoPuckYourself Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 (edited) I hope he plays another season and destroys the record. Well by destroys I mean by like 15-20 goals, maybe 30? Edited March 9 by GoPuckYourself Quote

DarthEbriate Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Ovechkin is 9 goals away. The Caps' 9th game out on their schedule is a home game against the Sabres. That game is sandwiched by 2-game road trips (at Winnipeg/Minnesota before, and at Boston/Carolina afterward). There is a chance that Ovechkin is the only Capital who takes a shot on goal in that Sabres matchup.... Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 5 Author Report Posted April 5 There it is! Let's get the hat trick at home for the record And for the love of all that is holy, no challenge on the record clinching goal Quote

OverPowerYou Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 It’s amazing that he’s on this streak. It seemed near impossible as of a few games ago Quote
Sidc3000 Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 (edited) He got so damn close when a Blackhawk defensemen accidentally pulled a Sabres move and scored on his own goal while Ovi was inching from tapping the puck in. Edited April 5 by Sidc3000 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 Gretzky sitting with Kash Patel while Putin's national hero becomes the league's top goal scorer makes me think reality has taken a holiday. I feel really bad for Dom. Quote
LTS Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 Can't wait, but sadly will miss the game because I will be at a volleyball tournament. I'll try and have my phone watching but the building is usually a faraday cage and the WiFi absolutely trash. Oh well. 1 Quote

JohnC Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 To Ovi's credit the coach asked him when Chicago pulled its goalie if he wanted to on the ice. He said no. He made the point prior to the game that he wanted to earn the record the right way instead of scoring a goal when no one was in net. 1 Quote
