Cozens is who he is He also lost a key faceoff in his own zone on the power play in the 1st period that led to a high quality SH scoring chance for the Rangers. I only watched the first period but it seems like more of the same from him. Quote

Cranky old man Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago He will be “all nhl “ in no time. After a while a guy will do anything to get out of this groundhog day movie that masquerades as an nhl franchise. 1 Quote

Could be a nice 3rd/4th line guy down the road but he's below average at too many things. He's a guy that could've benefited from an extended bake period in the AHL. Jumping directly from juniors to the NHL typically doesn't end well unless you're a generational type talent. I'm afraid Zach Benson is head down the same path. Love that kid, but the toxic losing environment and pressure of the NHL will eventually wear him down. 1 Quote

That said, what the hell do you or I know about his hockey IQ, unless we are his linemate or his coach? I mean really. He’s a kid and he’s in the nhl already. So the talent is there. Was it too much to ask him to be a top line center, on that we could agree. Chances are his game improve with time on a winning team, run by a viable hockey organization. Bet on it. There is ample evidence of this theory skating around the league, who once wore the blue and gold. Kevyin Adams just ruined another player that’s all. He’s the Alfred E. Neumann of NHL GM’s. 1 Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Ever since the Hathaway fight, YES. In his first couple seasons the future looked bright. I think he became delusional in his capabilities due to media/fan base hype.Maybe he saw himself as a future Benn type player in the making. An offensive threat who adds toughness to the roster. Then came the contract that literally and figuratively sealed the deal in his head. Hathaway stripped away one fantasy and lack of production stripped away the other. Cozens has no mental identity of himself as a player. Not a tough guy nor is he overly talented. If I was Ottawa management I’d put him on the third line to start. Let him get acclimated and figure out his game. Turn him into a moderate offensive threat that brings physicality. Quote

Archie Lee Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago 2 hours ago, LGR4GM said: Haha, Zach Benson is fine. Why the HaHa! I think Benson will be fine. But the situation isn’t great and it’s reasonable for people to have concern about the impact of the Sabre environment on any player (Benson included). It wasn’t long ago that the idea of trading Quinn was openly mocked by people projecting a 40 goal and 80 point season. Things can go south quickly. 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago As to the OP, Cozens is a career 8% shooter. His contract year 30 goal season was the exception when he shot nearly 15%. We have to face the reality that he just isn’t that good. Truthfully many of the guys from that “great” 2019 Canadian draft class aren’t thriving in the NHL. Dach, Cozens, Byram, Krebs, and Newhook haven’t found success in the NHL as people expected. Later picks like Harley and McMichael are outperforming their higher rated peers. Too many Sabres on that list. Quote
